This is the sort of thing:

Lewden PD435 20mm Male Bonding Nipple for flat cable such as Twin & Earth & 3 core and earth
Sometimes known as a lead adaptor from the times when cable had a lead sheathing on it instead of PVC

Also similar from CEF:

On a more serious note, I do wonder why that circuit is still in lead sheathed cable when the rest have been rewired in PVC. Makes me suspicious that its route is quite difficult to replace so last time they gave up on it.

Never use lead sheathed cable, but I have a vague idea there is some in my attic from several rewires past. Might try and recover it for an experiment!

For the clamps I would be tempted to put some spring washers, or spring/plain/spring in so the lead is kept with a more constant clamping force even as it slowly deforms.

Indeed :(

Also odd they are all C-curve breakers.
Yeah and it’s a house too. Apparently the board was fitted a few years ago (they were vague on the timeline) by a qualified electrician. Another ‘electrician’ then came and fitted the EV charge point which is what is running off the Fusebox RCBO.

Something tells me the individual concerned isn’t competent. No certificates for the board or EVCP 🤷🏼‍♂️

And a 16A lighting circuit, which isn't even covering the whole house.

Yep I queried that too. But, in fairness to the client, they have no idea and without being able to speak the ‘electrician’ who installed it I’ve no idea why they’ve done that.

What was the problem - busbar behind the clamp?
Loose connection which was also misaligned. Just hadn’t been tightened up properly. So for the sake of saving circa £10 over a loadstar RCBO. They forced a Fusebox one in and will cost circa £600 once it’s all replaced.

I’ve told them to go back to the ‘electrician’ and see if they are registered under any CPS. Find out their membership no and then complain as they shouldn’t be liable for that.

But ultimately I think they’ll end up paying as I reckon that they’ll get radio silence from the ‘electrician’.

Is that God the Black Woman.

Thought I better add, I am too old to worry about the difference between colour and gender.

What have we become that I thought I needed to explain that. 😱

And here we bl**dy go…..

Gone to look at a little commercial kitchen job in the back of a pub….. there’s those alarm bells ringing!

PAT all the second hand equipment the chef has bought in… Tidy up a few bits and pieces….(broken sockets etc) Wire in a gas interlink cutoff when he can get a gas engineer to come.

Not an RCD in the place.
This is the board everything will be coming off for the kitchen.

And these are a couple of issues I saw just walking through the place….

I also saw at least one light switch hanging off the wall behind the bar.

Domestic Aico smoke detectors in lieu of a proper fire alarm system with at least 2 detectors missing and one broken.

Place is a death trap.

Did you get the ‘but it’s been fine for years mate’ like I did in the last pub kitchen I worked in. 😂
