UK Cooker hood wiring from kitchen ring

Hi
I can’t get hold of my electrician so was hoping for some help, a cooker hood is going on the wall but there is only a back box with wiring for the kitchen ring that will sit within the hood housing. Does this not require a 3A FCU and or isolator? The wall has been plastered and I didn’t want to install kitchen units if there is more wiring needed.

Most appliances come fitted with a plug these days and I suspect your electrician is intending to fit a single socket to plug this in to.

Every electrician has their own way of doing things, we all follow the same rules but apply them in our own way, just because I might do something differently it doesn't mean that what they have done is wrong.

The only person who can really answer this question is the electrician who carried out the work and will ultimately be signing the certificate for the work.

what you have there is suitable for either a single socket or a fused outlet, the electrician is probably waiting to find what would suit the new hood before putting it on the wall

Thanks for the replies. There’s no plug so maybe the plan is just a fused outlet straight to the hood flex and no isolator needed

I wasn’t sure if being inaccessible behind the hood was a problem for an isolator

It's a common problem with standalone cooker hoods. Ideally, there should be an accessible isolator, but a FCU sitting high up on the wall, near the hood is ugly, and doesn't go down well with most customers.
