Visited the parents over Christmas. I noticed they had some under-cupboard lights fitted in the kitchen and then saw the quality of the work. All this from an electrician advertising in Yellow pages apparently. I made safe by clamping the join inside a box. So annoyed this can happen to the unsuspecting.

That's why I woudn't be so quick to dismiss DIY people all the time; there are plenty of 'proper' sparkies out there doing stuff like this. As has been said by someone before, there's good and bad in all areas. Daz

Quite agree and hopefully the OP can identify the "idiot" that did this and send one or 2 pictures to his scheme.

When all is said and done the lighting is also obscured by the plug block. I would have put that in the left socket to get more light to the worktop! JK.

I agree with Welchyboy its more notable when everything you inspect is done well.

If you put your name to something it should be done to the best of your knowledge and ability (if thats the best of their ability then theres still jobs in B&Q).
