I've came across and worked on quite a bit of really old equipment
The job that stands out for me is a disused underground station that I was sent to do a condition report on.
Switchgear and distribution boards from circa 1907 still in use, with some obvious additions over the years.. The DBs are all Siemens, the switchgear is various names I've never heard of.... Saunders Wednesbury... Superior...

old student halls I stayed in when I was at College had 1930's stuff everywhere, the old place has been gutted out now and remade into flats in 2006, so the stuff is all gone and the place is closed.....I got into it again for a last look around when they were stripping the building out,it had been lying empty and closed since it was sold in 2004, in the end all that was left was the concrete floors with all the interior walls gone and big holes where the stairs and lifts used to be.....got a load of photos back then on my first Digital camera, then the memory card fried when I stuck it into the PC card reader slot I was using back then and got erased in an instant...so photos were lost...
I found an information leaflet from when I first moved into the Halls when I was 17 that had information for new students in it, on one of the pages was a reminder that the Electrical system in the rooms was only suitable for 5Amps....

I still remember the time the floor I stayed on was without power for 24 hours due to 2 girls in a shared room both putting hairdryers on at the same time....9 at night on a Friday....clunk...darkness...

How on earth did the tagger TOX get in there? saw a programme on the transport police a few years back and they finally caught him some spotty 16 year old who apparently was the most prolific tagger on the london rail system, apparently the bill for his work ran into many thousands.

well this will almost certainly refer to its place of manufacture....
like the wednesbury area....black country....similar to walsall....a lot of switchgear manufacturers around there...
maybe it was that the skills used in lockmaking (another wednesbury/willenhall industry) were relevent to switchgear manufacture.....

Please notice all you non-believers and beginner's!! The total absence of any CPC within the 2 DB'S shown in these photo's. Why ...Because the metal containment system was (and probably still is) more than adequate to provide this systems earthing requirements, and then some!! ...lol!!

This disused station is a couple of hundred meters walk down the tunnel from an open section around Golders Green. That tag is everywhere down there even in a tiny congested relay room. He definitely got himself about the place
