kitchen lighting

Hi all. I've got a customer with a large kitchen diner and they used to have a couple of strip lights in there. When they redecorated last year they changed to a more modern looking 4-spot (2 of them in each area).

They've found that these don't give off enough light and are looking for modern suggestions. Multiple recessed spotlights aren't really an option as they just want something to fit to the 2 existing points.

So really I'm just looking for a modern alternative to the good old fluorescent strip light.

Use bigger spot light rails, change the lamps for cool white LEDs, add more lights (fishing skills pending) or get some under cabinet lights

Although there is some nice modern versions of the kitchen flou tube

modern strip lights. LED versions are available, but they're not cheap.

T5 daylight tubes give off a nice light, if you can find a fitting that suits the customers taste.

I fitted one of these modern fluorescents with a curvy opal diffuser for a customer to replace a tired-looking old fluorescent. She seemed pretty happy with it.
