Got asked to install an extra socket in a kitchen this week, and while I was there the customer asked me to look at another existing socket which hadn't worked since she moved in over a year ago. She had been in touch with the previous owner's "handyman/electrician" who had been to have a quick look and told her that it was probably loose wires and that he'd return to sort it out. He never came back.....
