Hi,

Just a quick one, got a board change next week and am going to extend everything using an enclosure and din rail etc, normally i just use twin and earth to extend it all but this one as it buts right up against it I was thinking about using singles.

My question is, at what point would you start putting ferrules on the ends that go into the neutral and earth bars? I know stranded should be ferrules to stop it breaking apart but its not exactly fine stranded. I just dont feel it needed to ferrule the end of the 1.5mm as its not find stranded.

I personally cant see any problems with it, just wondered what other peoples views were. I have never used singles in this situation before, 2.5mm singles seems pretty solid, its just the 1.5 that im more bothered about.

I just thought it would be easier to use singles this time that's all.

Ill take some photos before and after when I have done it for you to see.

I reluctantly went in CEF today just because I had no choice and they are so rude, apparently they have a reputation for being like that in this store. They push this whole we've got a lighting showroom, but to be honest B&Q have got one 100 times bigger and cheaper.

Today's fuse box change, it went ok, after removing the old board, I probably did have enough length in some circuits to replace the board in the same position, but most of them were cut too short on the CPC, as I had already purchased an enclosure I thought I might as well use it.

i think ill see if i can sell him a bell transformer to go in the board as there's a couple of spare ways plus i could push it all over to the left an get another one or two in. Just got to pop back tomorrow to fit an outside socket for him now that its RCD protected.

Sorry meant to say MK, ..lol!! Doesn't look anywhere near being solid to me. That back casing is not much more than the thickness of a smoke paper. No wonder they end up in a molten blob on the floor when subject to high resistance faults appearing in them... lol!!

I opened up the CU again and the round junction box above and what I found was the blue and brown wires coming in from the wall just above the 15a...
