Hiya!

A friend has 27 12V downlights in his kitchen/dining area and wants to change them for LED to save on his electricity bill. I've not had any experience of these lamps and was wondering whether anyone on here could answer 2 questions, the first being, are they any good? In terms of light output, and secondly, can they run off the existing 12V transformer or do I have to change it for a specific LED driver??

Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

DISCO.

best bet would be to ditch the transformers, replace the lamp holders with GU10 ones, then fit 230V GU10 LEDs. good sources for quality LEDs are LED hut, convertabulb, light rabbit, also consider sealed units. these don't have replaceable lamps ( bulbs ), but have good guarantee period. forget 12V LEDs, too much toi go wrong.

Just as Tell says , the only real use for 12 V led lamps is where you have an low voltage track fed by a single transformer and don't want to replace it , like I have , best bet is what Tell says to avoid future tranny faults,,,
