Self employed guy working for us doing work direct for our client.

It’s a bit cheeky. We had the same years back. He didn’t get anymore work from us. He came off worse imo.

    Jumping from Commercial to Domestic

If you can get the work at the right money in commercial, stick to what you’re good at it? None of us can be masters of every part of this trade these days imo, it’s just too broad in scope.

    Crazy cable price rises

Need a new wholesaler at that price. Even CEF have it at 68+Vat on their website

UK Earth bonding requirement for water pipe (metal entry point, switch to plastic after 300mm)

The metal pipe almost certainly needs bonding, possibly unless you make it completely inaccessible by building a permanent structure around it so it can’t be touched.

    Approved Contractor training

We started off notifying under part p through Eca who then bought out elecsa and moved everybody across and now been moved to niceic di. Bit annoyed really as we always used to be full scope under Eca. I wasn’t running the business though until about 5 years ago, so details are a bit vague to...

    Approved Contractor training

Ive had the same treatment. Elecsa is only part p notify anyway, they had no such equivalent to approved contractor as far as I can tell. I have all the qualifications and experience necessary for approved contractor status but I don’t want to do a full day assessment each year rather than...

    Approved Contractor training

Doing a job through a main contractor admittedly for a district council at the moment. They haven’t asked for anything. Only relatively small though £13k

    Approved Contractor training

Why do you need to be approved contractor? I’ve done loads of (admittedly relatively small) commercial work and never been asked. Seems like a con on the part of nic to me. Similar to paying them more to put their name on eicr’s. I don’t see what the benefit is to me. I think I’m right in...

Car Charger 6mm SWA cable Query - Loft Insulation

It’s not strictly correct but it might be less stress and hassle to you to leave a small space in the insulation around it. Also I expect it could be NYY or H07 cable rather than SWA

Does this need to be bonded?

In that case I personally don’t see the benefit of bonding, only the drawback as above.

    What a mathematical error!!!!

Not sure how you could be that far out. Pacing it out never lets me down. I usually end up with too much if anything. As above it could be a wholesaler error? They once gave me 50% too much as their machine played up! Also could be you forgot to add a section etc? Did you pace it again when...

Does this need to be bonded?

In the event of a faulty rcd that doesn’t disconnect on a TT system in the event of a fault, I think I’d rather as few exposed conductive/extraneous metal parts as possible. Will there be a floor going in the poly tunnels or will you effectively be standing in the dirt?

When is the 19th edition coming out? - British Standard BS 7671 (updated)

Should Scottish Government delay new smoke detector law

That’s weird. This is what I see. Maybe it’s different depending on your location. My local store also have 24 in stock, but I’m in the south east of England Edit: just realised you’re after the battery 603’s. None showing for delivery and only 4 in stock at local branch here.
