    operating the switches is so that you are testing all of the circuit and not just up to the switch. SY is not a departure. regards An ex AM2 assessor. 1593276622 you test up to the boiler mains feed, as with all the others. Regards Ex AM2 Examiner.

    exactly, although you will get such low values that you might need to put a minor value if you get a reading of zero.

    An open circuit is where there is a break in the conductor and a short circuit is where a live and earth are touching or live and neutral etc ie where the electricity is not taking the correct path but a SHORTER circuit.

    Bit confused here, IR testing.

    Circuit breaker should be off as long as you are on the load side. And as stated when doing an IR test ALL SWITCHES SHOULD BE OPERATED.

    1. from the furthest point 2. also crossed connections, usually on the cat 5. you will get IR faults. 3. any sleeving if available or tape. I used to be an AM2 assessor so be open minded.

    When I assess the AM2 candidates doing their I&T part it is very common that they get a 50V reading due to wrong setting.
