    Thanks murdoch but i would point out that i do not profess to be a spark i work mainly in IT and PAT but do have a need to check an elderly retlatives iffy diy domestic electrics and believe i am comptent enough to put the defects right or at least to disable the dangerous bits (already done )...

    Good discussion , i like doing the 25a tests on iec leads etc with the seaward europa but the battery primetest 300 is an excellent for tool going round rooms testing It equipment where the appliances under test are being done at 100 ma . Different tools for different jobs

    fuse rating

    All these fuses are available at the wholesaler although sometimes its better to stock up on 10A as they seem to be the harder one to find in local stores.I usually leave a couple of each type of fuse with the client after testing .

    Hi Murdoch For me its a boon if the items have barcodes asset labels etc which have a unique number as you say it provides a unique reference to that item and helps you clearly identify that item. .. plus it saves me sticking a barcode on the item ..

    Two thoughts whats the power rating of the unit ..can it be safely used on a 13a plug for continued use? If so is the plug top a high quality one or a 99p shop special ? the fact that it is on a plug means its easier to pat test otherwise you start to need breakout boxes etc or start using...
