Using a cavity wall gap for cables

My biggest concern would be the spacing between supports vertically. But I can probably solve that as well. If I allow enough cable slack initially I can affix the cables to a support and lower that into the cavity and then secure. Other than that I can't think of any other reg restrictions...

Using a cavity wall gap for cables

Yes thanks. As you said it maybe an interesting debate:-)

Using a cavity wall gap for cables

I can support the cable at 3 accessible points on it run up. Drip point not an issue as this is an internal wall now not external. The wall each side of the cavity is more than 50mm thick so the cables are deep compared to the surface. unlikely to be any holes bored through as this is an...

Using a cavity wall gap for cables

Looking at a job that needs cables running up to a loft space. Had originally planned a cable route from CCU through wall into garage (part of side extension) along top of garage inside wall then up through the bedroom above into the loft space. All surface mount clipped direct. A good few...

lid for this old consumer unit ?

I'd agree, its old and brittle. But a simple fix would be a rectangle of clear plastic and just glue it inside the old cover to support it.

NICEIC Certification Scheme NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme

I'd go domestic and get that sorted and then look at going the approved contractor route. I was due to have my NICEIC assessment end of last year but had to defer it as too busy. Now looking at Stroma which is cheaper and I don't need a lot of what NICEIC offers.

    12v Dual Supply Relay Problem

To avoid any disruption during any potential automatic switch over of supply isn't it easier to just run the 12V DC to mains continually and just use the mains to charge the 12V battery. If the 12V battery is under load then the incoming mains charge will increase. This is effectively a UPS...

NICEIC Certification Scheme NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme

I've had conversations with the NICEIC and they were happy to use current work completed as part of the assessment and then allow you to notify via them for those jobs. (assuming they accept you of course)

    Electrical fire

Hard to imagine a clock radio not blasting out loud music was generating so much heat it could catch fire. How bright was the LED display? 100W. Clearly if its the clock radio there is a design issue. Anything that can draw enough current to catch fire is lacking current limiting protection or...

    Series parralell ?

Good controllers are worth it as they do a better job of converting low output into usable voltage.

    Series parralell ?

Do the panels have reverse voltage diodes fitted? They need to have to prevent one panel feeding back into the others. What sort of controller have you got?

    Fans and ohm's law

The key points are: You need a fixed voltage of 12V DC The power supply needs to be able to deliver the required power or more and be able to deliver the voltage at an output current as needed for the fan (as mentioned some PSUs need a minimum load to deliver an output) You can't really use...

    German Market Lorry Incident

If we applied that globally we'd be saying don't be kind in case it comes back to bote you. What sort of a world would we have/or will we have if we stop kindness and consideration for the plight of others? May as well stop food banks as I'm sure some who use them aren't starving.

    German Market Lorry Incident

If the question people ask about terrorism is how they won't ever stop it and will just live in fear. The question should be why and what can be done to repair the damage thats been done to cause people to feel these acts are justified. You can't ever stop people who belive in a cause they are...

    The Snoopers Charter

Luckily at least for a while yet we have the EU to protect our rights. The snoopers charter has been declared illegal. Mind we'll be out of Europe eventually and then our government will be free to snoop and more all under the guise of protecting us.

    German Market Lorry Incident

They haven't even arrested anyone yet so how can anyone say how they came to be in Germany? As far as we know they could have been locals converted to a terrorist cause. But its far easier to just blame imagration. And has been shown before if bad people want to get in they will. Closing the...
