If a non rcd protected socket was right by an external door and likely to be used for outdoor equipment C2, otherwise C3 for the ground floor sockets. (Providing acceptable EFLI readings obtained)
C2? Making this once compliant barbers shop an unsatisfactory installation?
It's C3, providing satisfactory earth fault loop values and no sockets likely to be used with external equipment.
No qualification is directly recognised. Across all states an 'electrical licence' is required to carry out any electrical work. Each state will have slightly different requirements of initially gaining an electrical licence. To transfer uk qualification you'd likely need to do a 12month log...
Interested in fellow sparks opinions on this.
Client of a 15-20year old commercial/Industrial premises wants an additional 13a socket outlet installed for a specific piece of equipment, the additional wiring for this will be off a current non-rcd ring (with satisfactory Zs value) and installed...
Yep, not cheap at about £4k. I'm not sure how uni's can charge so much for a distance learning course. However the alternative is taking a day off every week.
In a similar situation to yourself. I'm currently considering a distance learning engineering HNC/HND.
Looking at electrical, control/automation or maybe in building services.
Of course I understand the concerns raised however I'd of C3'd the socket outlets and perhaps an attached written letter strongly recommending the duty holder to improve the circuit.
The school may have strict pat test routine or policy's on no minors using the sockets.
Additionally, similarly...
Unfortunately this is an all too common occurrence overseas. Usually kept quiet and brushed under the carpet by hotel owners and local media!
Congratulations you've lived to tell the tale and you've done all you can by making the owner act on it.
If not done so already, call a meeting with the employee. Explain the issues that are affecting your business. Listen to his response. Mutually plan some future targets. Honesty the best policy to keep long term stable employees.
Interesting post. As previously commented on by others. I'd be looking into the key switch possibly switching incorrectly perhaps the switch feed, strange that although the battery is charged it does not illuminate when power is cut.
I've previously seen like for like lamp changes cause...
I'd agree with your QS and manager.
On an ecir, C3 for non rcd protected sockets. Recommend improvement to the duty holder of the premise. They may already have a safe system to manage any risk if any, it's down to the duty holder to decide.
C2 for non rcd protected sockets mounted externally...
When installing additional sockets to an existing non-rcd circuit with already a number of socket outlets with cables not mechanically protected buried in walls less than 50mm, in a commercial premises. For me 'Specifically labelling for a particular item of equipment' is not generally...
Fair point. Thinking of options to keep cost at a minimum for client and maintain compliance. Utilise the other spare way in the cu, use 2 pole rcbo generally they're the same shape as an mcb? Bottom line is, an rcd is required unless a written risk assessment is provided.
I'd be looking to install rcbo's on the worked on circuits. Why do you say there is no room for this? Generally rcbo is only about 20mm longer than a mcb.
Other than that, instruct the client to provide a specific written risk assessment for the omission of rcd/rcbo on socket outlets circuits...
