    Installation of Outdoor Light

Firstly, you would NEED a neutral at the switch (not just a blue or black wire, which is likely a switched live). Second: You need to run the concealed wire under the plasterboard in a "prescribed zone" (e.g. vertically or horizontally) AND it will need 30mA RCD-protection. Third: 2.5mm is...

Outdoor and indoor lighting on same circuit

It depends on the type of Earth, but as long as >6A fault current can flow from L to E, it can still trip an MCB! But as stated above, it is likely to be more than simply damp (which would trip an RCD @ 30mA, but likely wouldn't run to anything like enough to trip an MCB)

Customer questioning his zappi EV charger.

As far as I understand, the car takes control. If it can only charge at 2.9kW, that is all it will draw. The Zappi won't care. If you wish, you can limit the Zappi: In the Advanced menu/Supply Grid/Device Limit, set it to 13 Amps.

    EV charger on split phase?

Most likely the charge point wouldn't care (it is probably just 3 single phase units under a single control system) but the vehicle would! If the vehicle can take a 3-phase (22kW) supply, that is exactly what it is looking for! Perhaps your better bet would be to supply a second single-phase...

EV charger (for me) - what's the lowdown on the easiest/cheapest way to do it?

Zappis have their own Type A RCD (+ 6mA DC) built-in so they do not want an RCD upstream. I've lost track of what the others require, but I tend to fit a Matt:e box on Tesla Series 3 charge points (but you need to know beforehand if you have permission to draw >60A as the Matt:e box is...

EV - after few pointers please

Although an NICEIC member I did the NAPIT training course which was 2 days. (How can the NICEIC possibly do it all in 1/2 day???!) OLEV/OZEV were indeed a nightmare to deal with, rejecting any EVHS grant claim they could possibly fault (one claim was rejected twice for not filling-in Section...

    Changing light, too many wires!

Usually, red & Black cable = Live & Neutral. Red, Yellow & Blue = possibly originally 2 different switch circuits. Try connecting red to red, black to lights Neutral, and Yellow to lights Live (and safely isolate the blue - i.e don't use). If that doesn't work swap the blue and yellow. You...

Changing old triple 2 way light switch to New triple 2 way wiring set up problem

Just follow the labels (L1 to L1, Com to Com, etc)

    Two way switch problem

You need to establish what is at both switches. It sounds like red1 is the Live Strapper (L1), black is the Switched Live strapper (L2), and the other red is the Common strapper. So at the light, one cable is probably the live supply & Neutral, the other is (red) Live to switches (L1), and...

Sonoff Wi Fi DIY MINI smart switch issue.

Update: Sonoff have written back (ignoring my suggestion that either S1 or S2 is connected to Earth (the switch has no Earth reference otherwise, so one would merely be clamping one of the control wires to Earth to minimise any noise, IMHO) but suggesting I install "an Electrodeless capacitance...

Sonoff Wi Fi DIY MINI smart switch issue.

Done! (Replaced with Hager). 1577610901 However, I have found that, when the device is non-responsive, flicking the switch ON/OFF/ON/OFF half a dozen times usually makes the device toggle. (This is what led me to think there might be noise on the wires that is confusing the device.) P.S...

Sonoff Wi Fi DIY MINI smart switch issue.

Has anyone had an intermittency issue with a Sonoff DIY MINI smart switch? This switch takes a voltage-free switch circuit (i.e. your old switch cable(s), separated from the mains) across it's inputs S1 and S2. Any change of state of the light switch(es) will change the output of the device...

Amazon - Interesting advice for wiring a Sonoff smart switch

A bit late to this: Sonoff are from Shenzhen in China. Their instructions are genereic, and clearly not applicable universally. Regardless, their products are pretty amazing for their price (check out their "WiFi DIY MINI Smart Switch). However, slight tech issue: see separate thread.

Which Electrical Body Are You With?

With "Which? Trusted Traders" jumping on the bandwagon - claiming to represent "the best" - when they actually represent only anyone who will pay them money, and relying on the public (mis)perception that they are an independent champion of the people - it's a bit like them saying: "pay-up or...

    Solar surveying tools?

I'm new to pv (done training, but not yet done an installation). Can anyone recommend tools, or a supplier, who deals with sun path surveying tools (I'm wondering if an old-fashioned sextant would be a useful purchase)? Any other advice or info would also be welcomed. Thanks and regards to all...

    Hello.

Having been prompted to introduce myself, I must make a point of asking my occasional questions here instead of hassling the NICEIC helpline! "Ill be back"!
