It seems strange that popular opinion warrants that as people age, they should be moving OUT of the more manual jobs into more sedentary ones.
The complete opposite is in fact true. - Youngsters have the constitution to remain nearly stationary nearly all day and still stay reasonably healthy...
OK, for anyone interested. - These I think might become common for my garden projects in future.
The unit itself seems nice and solid. It doesn't need a separate enclosure and it has substantial cable grips. Only a single mounting screw, but one's own cable clamps would prevent rotation if...
9 hours behind a computer all day is a tough life. I used to do it also in RF/mobile comms design. Expect to get fitter and sharper, but have loads less money - And if you are on your own, you never get to stop work.
I picked one up yesterday since the demo seemed to work well out into the TLC car-park. If I get time I'll wire it up for a test and do some "proper" checks round my own brick house and report back.
I scarcely ever get mine out, there's nearly always a live source.
It's a Martindale one, and every time I do get it out, I'm reminded that it's really only capable of "proving" it's own inadequate design. - It can push about 3 mA, hence manages just 60 Volts into my Dilog Voltage indicator...
Who's used these, and got any practical experience of range performance when there's a wall/window in the way? (FYI the transmitters don't use a battery, but get their energy by giving a big thwack to a lump of piezo).
Having many years in radio electronics, I'm well enough aware that...
@wirepuller. Nice idea. - It relies on sleeves being pretty long doesn't it, especially if a longish run and aiming to get some fall on the 100mm. And also a sleeves a close close fit to the pipe hole. - Checking sleeves just now, I noticed some from "Enlite" which are deeply ribbed, which...
When you begin burying joints in walls, however you do it, you are setting yourself up for problems with outdoors wiring. I checked out a 2 year old new-build not so long ago. The contractor had buried all the joints and drivers to a load of Collingwood wall lights somewhere inside/behind a soil...
Get an 18650 battery rechargeable headlamp off Ebay. Probably £10 and ultra bright if you investigate and select carefully re the LED die they choose. Get one with two cells mounted at the back, and a strap over the top.
Dispose of any supplied 18650 batteries (supplied Ebay ones they will be...
Yep, ex council properties. I worked on one recently where the source was most definitely a "ring" but 80% of the sockets were individual spurs with all the JB's hidden and inaccessible. Horrible to fault find.
Good. - & just FYI to help understand the range of these figures and how the method of measurement greatly affects to answer.. The 30W LED drivers which I mentioned in a previous post (Meanwell) where I had fitted eleven into one circuit, are individually specified at 55 Amps /500us. Hence since...
I'd be surprised if you can get a figure from Enlite, but if you do, then let us know! With domestic lights I don't think you will have a problem though.
I have had issues only once, but that was fitting 11 off 30W floods with Meanwell drivers. I eventually needed to fit a C16 breaker and only...
If there were bonding N return currents due to previous, could there also be unbonded extraneous parts unaccounted for at the tank end? eg part-plastic ground floor radiator plumbing with Cu going back underground? - It's common enough to find that sort of alteration. Return current out of...
"There is not always a need to do R1+R2 tests, this is really an initial verification test and the installation is already energised."
Potentially true, but that's coming from a nice starting position. I get called out (and by the sound of it the OP) to do EICR on shoddy old places which have...
Keep a record of the person who did the EICR. Tell the customer. - Not that you can do anything with it mind you.
Perhaps making it public on these forums that they are being noted might make some pull their socks up. I have about four in this category. More or less blank ( or completely wrong)...
There is a lot of ceiling lighting about, CE marked, which bears Class 2 markings, but relies on integrity of a single layer of thin walled plastic of a microscopic clip together JB loose inside metal pattress.
These are sold by big UK retailers, I don't understand how they get to be "Class 2"...
