    DC fuse blowout

Ok, doesn't sound like gPV fuses to me....do you know what the panel spec is, and the string config? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DC fuse blowout

Can you check the remaining fuses to see what size/type/rating they are perhaps?

    Surrey panel fire

    Anyone see this? https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/1319009/pensioners-home-gutted-after-its-cash-saving-solar-panels-set-fire-to-the-roof/

    DC fuse blowout

Direct, or induced, surge most likely I'd imagine. I can't imagine that the fuses were rated incorrectly. Any Type2 or Type1 devices fitted to the DC circuit on the array-side of the combiner box? Was the array frame earthed/bonded to the MET? Any damage to the inverters?

Never easy eh Gav?! Glad you're seeing an upturn, we've seen the same over the last month Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tumbleweed....

My god, it's been quiet on the forums! How is everyone doing? Anything to discuss/chat about? Any questions or insights? I'm heading to Intersolar tomorrow for the day, will see how the land lies over there... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    IV curve tracing

New Seaward PV200 tester has this functionality, with NFC transfer of curves/data to an Android device running the app. Very handy, available in a few weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    IV curve tracing

Just curious - anyone interested in being able to use IV curve traces when commissioning, testing etc? Very useful from a post-install troubleshooting or O&M point of view. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trouble with an existing Pv system Schott Asi 105w panels

Older thin-film panels often required the +ve or -ve DC branch earthed, hence why SMA might be saying they are incompatible with their TL inverters (no galvanic isolation) perhaps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Retrofitting Solar Edge.

Sounds like a bad salesperson mis-selling/tarnishing a great product..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PV+ - anybody heard of this?

Ok, thanks, and is the unit manipulating the voltage/supply that the inverter senses and synchronises with? Also, how is the PV+ unit different from a VO unit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Refusol Inverters

AE in Germany (Advanced Energy) still has an active service department - have you tried contacting them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PV+ - anybody heard of this?

Ok, I'll throw a question in - is the PV+ unit wired between the grid and the inverter's AC output? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need to pick some brains guys/girls

Wouldn't using VFDs actually help minimise initial startup current surges though? Also, what a VFD does is pretty much what goes on in a PV inverter anyway - DC to DC conversion + PWM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

MCS 012 fire rating in roof systems

MCS 012 fire rating in roof systems

Crikey, that's a lot of individual panel make/model testing by each in-roof kit provider! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PS: a SolarLog device plus a Smart Relay Station would probably give you the measurement and control functionality required (plus some ancillary hardware) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need to pick some brains guys/girls

There was a product made by Advanced Energy (formally Refusol, soon to be rekindled by the parent company Prettl perhaps) that was designed to do pretty much what you describe - with a grid-tied inverter for the PV, and a "hybrid" controller to power/demand-manage a diesel generator. I'd...

Need to pick some brains guys/girls

Ok, understood. Still don't see an issue though tbh. The backup genset won't be active whilst the PV is on though, right? I'm assuming the PV is connected on the grid-side of the genny changeover switch and/or there's some form of inhibit interlock? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not aware of any issues with VFDs, and if the harmonics are suppressed then I wouldn't imagine any issues. The inverters are tested/certified for harmonics too, and I'd hazard that so long as the sensed grid connection doesn't fall outside the G59/3 parameters for voltage/frequency/ROCOF etc...
