Specialist firm for running cables in underground?

As the title says, I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of specialists firm who run in armoured cables underground? I have a 250m run of two cables, possibly around 4core 150mm across a field that I'm looking at. I wouldn't even know where to start in pricing something like this so I'd like to...

    Generation meters?

Is everyone still fitting generation meters? We're installing on a couple of hundred houses and the consumer unit fill we installed in the hallway. We're trying to keep clutter down and the customer has asked why we're installing them if, as he has been told, they're no longer needed? As far...

End of FITs in April 2019, end of MCS?

I don't see what role they'd fill. I'm in the NICEIC as a sparky and that should be good enough.

End of FITs in April 2019, end of MCS?

With the FIT scheme due to end next April, will this make the MCS redundant? Please say yes.....

Decommissioning existing wind turbine - recommendations?

I've been contacted by a customer who wants to have a wind turbine removed. Does anyone know of a firm in the Midlands area that could carry out this job?

MCS steering group meeting on Fire issues at BRE Tue 12th Sept - installer input needed please

Only just read this post as I've been away in Minehead all week. I wouldn't be able to make Tuesday as it's the last day on a shopfit we've been working on. Have to be there unfortunately.

Sounds like it may be an issue with the DC switch. Have you phoned Kostal?

What can cause an invertor to trip the MCB?

We've taken on the maintenance of a lot of systems and seen this a lot. Circuit tests fine, inverter looks fine, inverter log shows nothing unusual. Yet the breaker has tripped out. No signs of any faults at all. We replace the breaker when we have this issue and ask the customer to keep an...

    Fire Incidents involving Solar Panels

Just to add, the internal works were impeccable. I am convinced that the internal works and the roof works were carried out by separate teams. It wouldn't surprise me if the cables were made off by roofers.

    Fire Incidents involving Solar Panels

Went to a job yesterday which had stopped working. Found an MC4 which had melted and concluded that it must have been made off incorrectly. Replaced it and the system still didn't work. Eventually tracked the fault down to a cable which had been extended with MC4. It had completely melted...

Industrial scale PV and battery storage

Thanks for that, Gavin. I did check Sibert but didn't see that on the website. I'll check them out tomorrow. As for the deemed export point, I actually hadn't considered that. At the very least, anything above 30kWp will probably want to opt out of receiving any export payments I would...

Industrial scale PV and battery storage

I've been asked to provide a price for a 50kWp PV system complete with battery storage. Anyone ever done anything like that before? There situation is relatively unusual. They have plenty of roof space yet only use 35,000kWh power a year. So a 50kWp system is far too big anyway in my...

    Good service

Good suppliers are hard to find. But used Ecolution for the first time last week and they have been excellent. Installed 6 panels on a site and one of them was a slightly different colour to the rest. Without quibbling, they sent me out a replacement on a pre-10 the next day. Will definitely...

Just done the NICEIC refresher course

And it was pretty much as you'd expect. A bland couple of days where the most interesting things came about when we came away from the work and chatted about the industry etc. Only three guys on the course and they only have one every 6 weeks. Make of that what you will. The guy taking the...

The NICEIC are blaming the MCS - and the guy I'm dealing with at the NIC actually agrees with my points.
