I don’t know if you would be able to help me. I want to drill 2 x 25mm and a 20mm hole through these joists to get into the loft.
Is drilling vertically through joists allowed? It’s a bungalow so there’s only the loft above but the only info I can find is about drilling horizontally rather...
Good Evening,
I'm going to fit a 4 inch inline extractor fan in the loft above the bathroom. I'm guessing the internal grille has to be fire rated just like a down lighter has to be?
i only ask because the website i bought it off doesn't sell any fire rated internal grilles even though it...
Thanks everyone. I have a megger tester to do zs and rcd times.
the lights aren’t rcd protected at the moment but will be after I get a registered guy to replace the dB.
so I’ll physically fit the lights now but connect them up after the chaps changed the board.
thanks again
Hi,
I’ve found this that I think says anything outside the zones isn’t a special location. Is that still the same now?

good afternoon.
ive got a chap coming to change my db and i also want to change my bathroom lights to downlights.

these look like i can just drill a hole and put them in. i don't have to add a...
Good afternoon,
I want to change a consumer unit for a new Schneider easy9 and all rcbos. ive got the power company installing an isolator next month so the board can be isolated.
If i know what i want, is it better to buy for the electrician or get him to buy it? am i going to save much...
Hi,
thanks for the replies. It’s only £20 and there’s a denmans in town so we can pick it off the counter. She hasn’t given a part number but I’m guessing it’s compatible if they say it is.
Lucky we caught it really as it could have been nasty.
Good Morning,
The RCD that protects half of our split steeple board is showing signs of overheating. The connection was loose and i've tightened it.
ive contacted Denmans (who i believe bought steeple) asking for a replacement rcd. they've said that they don't make the series e anymore but...
David savery, artisan and Nbundy are probably my favourite channels.
I think it gives them good publicity as I like the look of their work and would hire them if they were in my area.
As their subscribers increase they do become some sort of electrical celebrities which must also be...
Hi,
thank you for the advice.
The sheds essentially a storage shed and she just wants a couple of outdoor lights and a couple of outdoor sockets added. She’s not going to be wanting to spend extra money for future workshop possibilities as she’s not looking to ever sell.
Even if I could...
Sorry, I don’t quite understand this bit. You mean if I put a socket on the 6mm distribution supply cable I won’t be able to add new circuits to the shed CU?
thank you for helping me
thanks for the replies everyone.
i can terminate swa fine. i'll use the wiska earth nuts to bond the armour.
wiring a second swa along the same route as the 6mm just for the sockets sounds like it would be ugly as it's going to be all surface mounted.
the internal shed sockets are 2.5mm...
Hello,
The shed is supplied with 6mm Swa on a 25amp rcbo. Inside the shed is a 20amp socket circuit and a 5 amp lighting circuit.
Can I add a junction box to the supply cable about mid way and radial off that box to a double socket?
a 32amp radial requires 4mm, and a 20amp radial is 2.5mm...
Hi,
The supply to my MILs shed doesn't have rcd protection. The board supplying the shed is an old one and the mcbs can't be changed to rcbos
is it notifiable to take the existing shed supply cable that's coming out of the CU and redirect it through an rcd or rcbo in a single module box?
i...
