Sorry, forgot all about this!
It was the toy making the noise, although the lightbulb does give out a very high pitched buzz.
You wern't the first to mention a light sensor but your exactly right!
There is a metal plate in the back of each shape, I assumed this made contact with something on...
Have I read this wrong or are you saying that the total for a double socket-outlet is 26A and not 13A?

Definately not!
It means skilled electrical trained person, not a skilled chef!
The way they rush around they don't care about anything electrical! If my chefs repaired everything they broke / melted I'd have a much easier life!
Bear with me.
Our toddler has got a toy which is a wooden board with cut-outs to put various shapes of wooden vehicles into. When the correct vehicle is put in the correct slot it makes an imitation noise of the particular vehicle. This toy is battery powered and doesn't connect to the 'mains'...
I've had 4 blow in the last two weeks on a 4 way GU10 light. I think it always happens this time of year!
These are the cheapest ones from Screwfix, before this it had been months without one blowing.
The worst bulbs I've found are the ones from B&Q which are also the most expensive!
I believed that for the IP rating a CCU needs that the unit "should not be able to be opened without the use of a tool"
I opened one in Screwfix yesterday with my fingernails. I appreciate that when you lot have bolted it to a non-flat wall it will be harder to open though!
In my local sandwich shop they had a cable fault on the lighting circuit. The landlords solution was to use very thin circuit board interconnection wire from the CCU up the wall and along the ceiling with blue-tac holding it in place every 50cm. Only one conductor was replaced, dont know what...

You are calling them builders? Are they builders or electricians? Will they give you safety certificates (Electrical Installation Certificate) for the completed work? Are they Part P registered?
I imagine if you cancel they will say they have already bought the materials and that you'll have to...
On this style a screw holds the two pin plug in place, the plug can be pushed either way into the 3 pin adaptor.
Sorry this is what I was getting at in the OP but somehow managed not to mention it at all!
Fair enough.
What about appliances that use a shaver style plug that pushes in an adaptor plug? You don't know which way round is which!
Denon DVD players and amplifiers for example.
If you were testing a Class 2 (double insulated) appliance and line and neutral were reversed in the plug, would you swap them round?
If so, why? Just to avoid any possible argument with the customer?
It's in a lift well in a busy shopping centre! There are two lifts, both had the same ladder, I suspect it was the same ladder cut in half!
I agrees about the bolt length.
The thing that gets me about it is that the cable is stuck to the ladder using those plastic clips with double sided tape...
