Commercial premises - most common earthing arrangement?

You'll have to write a limitation on the certificate, that you couldn't gain access to the supply and therefore have no supply characteristics. You cant guess them.

Is 0ne 30mA RCD acceptable to cover all circuits in 3 bed semi - any reccomendations

Re: Is 0ne 30mA RCD acceptable to cover all circuits in 3 bed semi - any reccomendati I always wonder how even ''17th Edition'' board meet the reg 314-1 and 314-2 and particularly if you look at TT systems as mentioned above. If you aren't supposed to let a fault on one circuit affect another...

    Periodic codes and your opinion

I agree with the 'both right' but would probably have code 4'd it myself and added a statement about if the light fitting was changed, then it needed replacement. Surely if we work on the theory of, we allow for any future items then we should all be fitting 25mm for a shower as they only seem...

    advise please

its quite common to connect the towel rail from the lighting circuit as they often have a low load i.e. 120W so therefore do not require more than a 3amp fuse. Rcbo protected of course, sounds fine.

    C T Ratio

cheers, that helps, but Ryefield are an old firm that finishes early on a friday and I seem to remember ringing 'during their lunch hour' once too ;-( so their technical probably wont be around until Monday midday after tiffin and jam sandwiches. :D

    economy 7 rcd test

It's not clever but most people will temp feed the E7 board from the 24hour as long as its off the same supply ...... but probably not clever if you are looking for something safe

    Patch panel earthing

Yes you would need to allow for high integrity earthing as it will probably be used for IT equipment of some sort

    fire /Security alarms and aerials

Visonic have a good quality, easy to fit wireless system with Lithium batteries that should last 2-3yrs in normal use, and reasonably priced. available at Gardiners or similar ............... and i'm a wireless hater who has been installing alarms since 1993:cool:

    Patch panel earthing

Presumably its not domestic and that it is meant for IT equipment then you wouldn't fit RCD to socket and if it was on wheel then why would you want to bond it? unless it was in a bathroom

    Garage wiring

It is sufficient as long as it isn't a single rcd for whole board and it tests ok

    garden lighting

You should advise your customer that the existing arrangement does not meet regulations (314-1 whole installation cant be covered by single RCD or 314-2 a fault on one circuit shouldn't affect another circuit) and if you are looking to just do the smallest alteration without going to the trouble...

    C T Ratio

I have quoted for a job of fitting a CT chamber and doing the intake alterations to change a 100A 3-ph supply to 200A 3-ph and in doing so obtained a price for the CT Chamber from Ryefield. The metering company need to know the CT ratio to complete their form so they can book the job, so the...
