hello all,
in need of a little advise please. i have worked on idustrial installations for a number of years now, and have some experience in domestic work working on building extensions under the watchful eye of the building control.
over the weekend a famly member asked me to have a look at a towel radiator in the bathroom.it was not getting warm, the towel radiator is about 2.2M from the bath so its out of any zones
i found that the 150w heating element was open circuit, i replaced the element with out any problem, like for like, the element is wired through a switched fuse spur with a 3amp fuse fitted.
however the fused spur is connected into the upstairs lighting cicuit, to isolate the circuit i tripped out the rcbo for the upstairs lights.
is it acceptable to us the lighting circuit with a switched fuse spur to feed the towel rad or should it have been connected to the ring main?it was installed about 3 years ago by a when the boiler was replaced by a plumber.
thanks for any advise
