emm? just wondering why?Does the sheath not need to be bonded too? I cant make out the writing on the service head, how do we know this presumably later conversion to TNC-S hasn't been done on the fly by mr diy sparky. I was thinking it could be left in place to be sure to be sure.
such a load of tosh, Ray.I don't know why you are so hard on the guy,he's only asking for advise.design design design.I recon the guy is refering to a 32amp circuit when he talks about 13amp ring main. Its not the rcd bit thats tripping on his rcbo...the type D is to allow for the increased...
hi,your thinking sounds about right to me...some tx's do have a thermal overload which resets when they cool, others don't....as you say perhaps this wasn't the problem....I find that lampholders are quite often the culprits or even sometimes the lamps themselves build up a sort of patina or...
RING ISSUES AGAIN...I'm sure I've said this before but not on this thread...Anyway.I had to do some work in a house, moving a socket for the tv amp or something. My apprentice was at the consumer unit switching off, then back on again, the mcbs one at a time coz nothing was labled at the consumer...
wages didn't come in yet this week due to f*ck up with computers at nat west/rbs/ulster bank.So had to take my stash down to clearways....Price has gone up a little..last week was 3300 a tonne...today I got 3755 a tonne for burnt. In March they were giving 4250....I had no option to wait as...
We'd always known them as numbered ferrules too.No idea how widely available they are...I havn't used them in years. You could try widening your search to cable identification markers or similar.
Hi dave and welcome. The last time I got my jib card renewed they insisted that I attend their own (ecs) health and safety assessment. The standard csr(though legal for access to sites)wasn't good enough for them...theirs has an electrical bias to it,and I think it was 35 pounds to do about four...
I don't know what you are all giving to the scrapman but I just found a docket from a year ago and for 92kg of burnt wire they gave me 419 quid,so 4.55 a kilo.Dunno why yis are all getting such bad prices.
Yep I realize that the best price is for hand stripped swa`s and that we aren`t supposed to burn it .But I was wondering if the rate is the same with the insulation still on
Its quite easy, i believe, to check your resistance values without spending a fortune on expensive test-check boxes. You can buy resistors for a matter of pence from Maplins get a selection high & low values.
Sorry didn't explain properly. There is also a landlords fire alarm system with one device(combined smoke/sounder/strobe)located in the hallway of each flat.I've done a few jobs now for different contractors and this dual system seems to be the way they are doing it.
cheers rex, found that relay base. brk doing one for 22.50.Just wondering would I need to install relay bases on all the detectors in the premesis or just 2. The appartments have smoke detector in each bedroom, one in hall and one in living room, also a co detector which shuts off the gas...
ok thanks for your thoughts....but would that mean that if the circuit breaker was to operate(trip)on my smoke detector circuit, the circuit that I'm trying to control would also drop out?..probably not a major issue....at least they would know their smoke detector circuit has tripped when the...
Just a brief query,I have a job to do that has requested that the domestic type fire alarms with battery back up have to shut down the fans on a heat exchanger.(and also the co alarm has to shut down the gas solenoid valve)I have done this on comercial type of fire alarms but not with...
I totally agree,But I think even with 4mm and Lennys recommended 26amps we end up with a maximum of 160metres to comply with the permitted voltage drop.I've voiced my concerns that we could be ending up with a voltage drop of 30volts.but I keep getting" there will be a very light load"I don't...
Thanks for your thoughts,I tried putting my concerns that there is no facility to isolate the light for maintenance purposes but was told that the maintenance wouldn't be our concern and that there wasn't enough money on the job to install additional"un necessary" switches,so will just have to...
I've got a load of these to do and just wondering what y'all would recommend.Bathroom with pir sensor controlling light & timer fan(fan via isolator)I have been told that they don't
want pir on isolator?.MY preference would be to run lne to isolator first then 4core flex to pir then another 4...
Thanks for that lenny......just wondering why we need to multiply result by a factor of 4?(I take it for a radial that there is no 'multiplier?--sorry about the daft questions--brain is getting a bit rusty)
