Possible fault in PV generation meter after system installed 2 years.

Have you seen the meter or just going off what the customer said? I know some meters have a button you can press which will cycle through readings, so might just be user error. Digital meters can't go back, it would just freeze and whatever reading it was at.

    Thieving numb sculls

With security I reckon a good audio alarm deters most and was thinking about getting a mini site box to bolt down and put the pricey stuff in. Few years back I had a van stollen in broad day light, apprentley there was a gang operating with a tow truck in the area!

Inverter went pop, can you identify this film capacitor?

Hi Matt, what make is the inverter? I would contact the supplier and get a new circuit board if you want to try and repair the inverter. Although I must stress that solar ac/dc is extremely dangerous! Highly recommend getting a professional into to help!

    British Standards not highly regarded

I found the British standards of work being carried out a lot higher! I was working in commercial, little bit of domestic and industrial for the last 3 years in Aus and was regularly shocked by the standard at which they would leave/install things. Company I was working at actually preferred...

    Porch lights on a timer??

You could fit it after the dimmer, by like telctrix said I'm not sure the timer would like running on <230v. Therefore if the junction box in the garage has an un-switched 230v supply in it, you could used this to feed the timer and have it switching the load.

How would you do it?? Two way on 12 lights, some dimmed, some not

With 18 cables are you running 12 x 3core then 6 x switch wires to each switch bank? There are plenty of ways to cut back on cables at the switches but I think you will end up creating more work and taking longer. If you're restricted with space I would say conduit and singles with a feed at...
