    Motor wiring

Hi, been given the task of installing a second hand radial arm saw in a workshop. Unfortunately the control panel is not there. This is what I have to connect, I assume there needs to be a starter & overload. Thinner wires go to switch on saw but no clue of the actual connections if anyone has...

    Horstmann Electronic 7

Electronic 7 just uses a 24hr supply as you set the on & off times as you would with any conventional timer. Only controller as far as I know that uses the 2 supplies is the E7BX.

    Generator earth

I had connected my rod directly to the consumer unit, do I need to install one at the generator too and connect it to the casing?

    Generator earth

What would you suggest as the best solution to this? As I said I'm not too familiar with generators and I'm struggling to find a definitive answer anywhere.

    Generator earth

Hi all, first post for some time! Currently installing power and lighting into a small cabin. Supply will be from a permanently connected generator and using a rod for earthing purposes. Carrying out testing today and only getting 197v between live and rod. Guessing I may need another rod which...

    Ford Transit Fob

If it's a newer model with the blue fob (56 onwards I think) it has to be done by a ford dealership. Fob is about £70 and programming about £30 if I remember correctly. If it's an older model the key can be programmer yourself but that just the immobiliser, not a remote I think.

    nic or select

6 months for both, Nic is easier to join as you just have to show competence. Select requires 2391 and as I said before, approved grading.

    nic or select

I would go select, although it also depends on your qualifications. Select only accept approved grade electricians.

    Help/info for approved assesment

I did the aca 2 years ago, shouldn't be anything to worry about if you are confident, not much different to the FICA. Risk assessment, quite a bit of testing, fault finding and a couple of multiple choice question papers.

    Kit house extension

Usually once the kingspan is fitted a vapour barrier is pinned across the front of the kit internally. Then 2"x1" battens are nailed onto the studs which then creates the service void for cables and pipes.

    Kit house extension

Your builder/ architect has misunderstood I think. The new regs require a service void to be installed between the kingspan and internal gyproc so no cables pass through the insulation. So he is correct in saying no holes should be drilled in the frame but there should be a secondary frame...
