What are your thoughts on people wanting to be ultra neat when wiring inside boards?

It’s all ended up being a bit of a YouTube beauty contest to some extent IMO the most important thing is that it’s easy to maintain for the next person… enough slack, tidy correctly ordered conductors etc. this does mean neat, not a rats nest but probably doesn’t have to be quite as “beautiful”...

Can 12v ac be used through a light switch within 1 meter of a swimming pool.

Quinetic switches might be an answer T

    Load limiting

Zappi charger permits a remote RF signalled current clamp measurement to limit the max current. Or use the swa feed cable with the extra 2 core to connect the current clamp without running an additional cable t

EV Charging. Courses, amount of work et al.

Anyway, further comments to OP on this topic: 1. Need to consider if you have latest rcd testing unit e.g. type A/B with DC tests 2. Need to invest in a ev simulator test unit if you’re installing the cool ones with inbuilt RCD otherwise you can’t test it. 3. most of the time you’ll also be...

    Meter tail grommets

the knockouts in the thermoset plastic are for 25mm.Some have terminals at the top and bottom and a combination of top entry and existing 16mm tails leaves a tiny gap. Not unsafe, but ingressable. Maybe I should have mounted them sideways ?

    Meter tail grommets

Thanks @James for this... its subtly different I think since these collars are for identification, not IP... will continue to trawl... T.

    Meter tail grommets

Can the hive mind tell me where I can source the meter tail grommets that pack a 16mm insulated/sheathed tail up to 25mm? The Henley block knockouts are for 25mm cable and I want to maintain the IP rating for existing 16mm. I may use heatshrink as a solution but I know these things exist...

UK Why Are Incoming Live/Neutral 16mm and Tails From Consumer Unit 25mm

Possibly worthy of consideration is that some cut outs don’t seem capable of taking 25mm tails. Mine has 16mm2 from cutout to meter, 25mm2 thereafter, upgraded onwards due to a split/Henley arrangement for some sub mains a couple years back.

How insistent should I be on type certification

Hello forum members I am installing a Switch fuse unit bought from CEF. It’s a Proteus unit with a proteus branded main switch and Ferraz Shawmut fuseholder I queried the type certification for this combination because the images on the website had proteus on the fuseholder too but It wasn’t...

    Garage Supply

Providence or order code mix up has substituted an isolator that gives no protection to your 6mm SWA with a switch fuse which can. You will need a smaller fuse than 100A I think to protect the SWA but it sounds good IMHO.

    Nice purple and blue sparks...

Common with gu10 bulbs. It's almost certainly just the bulb drawing mega current as it blew. Average homeowner wld probably just put a new bulb in and replace fuse. Probably over thinking it but also worth checking ir/ for a LE or LN short if you want the practice.

    Obvious question more than likely.

Hi. The answer is in the terminology. When you write "Why then are main fuses rated at 100A or 80A?" you probably mean "Why then are main switches/RCDs rated at 100A or 80A?" The switch rating is not related to your supply rating (but needs to be same or more)

Whtie Round Pin 5A Trailing Sockets - do they exist?!?!

5a round pin is fairly standard in India for conventional use as domestic mains power connector. I don't know for sure but this might be an avenue worth pursuing if you really must have white. Good luck
