Adding RCD protection to obsolete MCBs

Planning on quoting to complete the works as asked by the customer and if they go ahead, once the works are complete I’ll send them a formal email/written letter advising that work has been carried out to satisfy the C1 and C2s as per the test sheet but still can’t guarantee the installation is...

Adding RCD protection to obsolete MCBs

Commercial Customer has handed me an EICR with lots of C1s and C2s recommending RCD protection for socket outlets and circuits marked up as bathroom heaters etc. Looking for a quote to fix all. Issue is it wouldn’t be 1 board change, it would be approximately 15 due to circuits in question...

Adding RCD protection to obsolete MCBs

Best way to add RCD protection to specific circuits in an old Siemens DB which I’m told is now obsolete. Install an additional enclosure adjacent to the DB to hold new RCBOs and feed these from the obsolete MCBs? Any other ideas?

    UK Housebashing wiring helped

I would actually even contemplate drilling a hole or two in the cover to use as somewhere to hang coats on hangers maybes? Plastic non-conductive hangers that is of course.

    UK Housebashing wiring helped

Fix the CU to the ceiling that way you can drop straight into the board without having to worry about the joist or go down the wall?

Swa armouring let it be Earth

Tbh I've only just recently started using the armouring as the CPC. Used to always get 3core or 5core rather than 2core or 4core. Company I worked for as an apprentice always did it that way so it was habit for me to do the same when I started to get the materials myself.

I'd never dream of paying a company to find work for me unless it was on a commission basis potentially???

Is a 35mm cable big enough for a 3-phase domestic installation with...

It's not the size of the cable you yourself need to worry about. You need to tell them how many amps/kva you require and then let them worry about what size cable they need to install to be able to safely provide you with that. If you have a 3phase 80amp supply and they install a 35mm cable...

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

The RCD provided was a Type A time delay which threw me a bit. It does have an S in a box shown on the details on the front of the device so I'm assuming it's a Type S as well if someone with more knowledge can clarify before works are carried out? Have managed to dodge a lot of work on TT...

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

Opted for a 100mA RCD to be fitted before the board after looking at table 41.5 of the BBB. 30mA additional protection not required for the nature of the three phase circuits. Cables not hidden anywhere and hard wired, no sockets etc. With Ze value changing due to ground conditions, how close...

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

My understanding is that all circuits on a TT system are required to be protected by a 30mA RCD .. is this wrong?

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

Lewden .. dont think they do an RCD conversion kit unfortunately!

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

No room adjacent to the distribution board to be able to do this as there are 3 x three phase circuits to install so 3 x RCCBs and enclosures would be required. No upstream RCD but didn't think this was a requirement of BS7671 if meter tails are visible and proper glands and termination are in...

Three phase equipment RCD protection on a TT system

TT system, existing three phase fuse board recently installed by another spark which only has single phase circuits terminated into individual RCBOs Required to install three phase circuits for new equipment, is there a better way of doing this than fitting a 4pole RCD ahead of the main switch...

Twin socket behing wall mounted TV

https://www.screwfix.com/p/appleby-1-1-gang-dry-lining-knockout-box-35mm/22772 A metal version of this might work if anyone can point me in the right direction! Anyone know if this is twin backbox size or different dimensions?

Twin socket behing wall mounted TV

I've got a twin socket behind a wall mounted TV but the bracket I have is so slim that the TV won't hang when the plugs in the socket. Can you get some sort of fused spur which fits on a twin backbox? Thanks
