Idiot alert - drilled pre cast flue

As you can tell by the title I have been stupid and drilled the pre cast flue for my gas fire. I am building a fake chimney breast and in my haste to put up the frame work I fixed 2 batons using plugs and screws into my class 2 pre cast flue. The holes will be hidden in the new breast anyway but...

    Socket in the loft

Yes i was going to install a FCU (with 3A) and then a 13A socket as the amp has a transformer plug so couldn't wire it straight into the FCU

    Socket in the loft

I would like to install an aerial signal booster/splitter in the loft but it requires a 13A socket. There is no power in the loft so is it ok to spur off the lighting circuit (with 3/5A fuse) and then install a single socket up there? What are peoples opinions on this? or any other suggestions...

Kitchen Diner Downlights - too many!?

I have my upstairs floor up as in the middle of renovation. I think 3 rows in the kitchen will look right as it balances it out, so at the minute its either 3 x 5 (original plan) or 3 x 4 or 3 x 3?

Kitchen Diner Downlights - too many!?

Thanks for all speedy replies, I think I will be rethinking my layout then. I've read on the internet about having them about a metre apart is a general rule but guessing that doesn't apply anymore. I havnt got any wall units so there will be no issue with creating shadows on the worktops and...

One ring main for whole house

i know what you're saying and I could figure it out but I'm big believer in if there is something you're not 100% on you should ask no matter how stupid it sounds. Would much rather ask your guys opinions on the the matter before I steam in and do something I regret. Like I said its my first...

One ring main for whole house

Yes that's what I was thinking Midwest, ideally I didn't want to touch the floorboards upstairs. I also have another question how do people generally run the cables around the kitchen behind the units. I'm going to have a couple of sockets above worktop and a couple of sockets in adjacent...

One ring main for whole house

The kitchen/diner will be skimmed walls and ceiling as there was artex on the ceiling and I will be installing downlights. With reference to splitting the ring so could I split the ring so the downstairs sockets are one and upstairs are on the other both on 20a breakers (RCD side) and then...

One ring main for whole house

Haha thanks Paul. Yes the circuit is on the RCD side of the CU. So would you recommend leaving as it is or install a new ring for kitchen sockets?

One ring main for whole house

I have just bought a relatively new house (15 years old) and didn't expect to do any major electrical work only moving the odd socket. however i went to isolate a socket and realised the whole house was fed off a single ring on 32amp.(still cant believe it was wired like that!) I'm will be...
