Years ago I would have agreed on the battery issue.
Now the batteries and the alarm technology are much better, however I would not install something like Fire Angel (they had a product recall a few years ago as 10 year batteries lasted 1.5 years)
On the other side I install Aico battery...
I would be inclined to add a couple of RCBOS to the board-
One for the kitchen sockets, one for the boiler (or cooker)
Then take it from there
DId you split the kitchen ring whilst testing?
You don't seem to have true E7 as the second meter is not moving
The set up looks like a seperate meter for storage heaters
Normal E7 has one meter with 2 rates, you need to contact Octopus and tell them your meter is not working.
They are as slow as a week in jail to come out to standard...
I prefer to put a bank of DP switches in a cupboard next to the kitchen (there is usually a tall hall cupboard next to the kitchen)
Other times we put switches in adjacent to the consumer unit- all labelled. A bit more cable, easier to wire and also easier to put different appliances on...
Exact thing happened to me in 2003
The guy I worked for told all of us we had to go self employed.
Within 6 weeks I realised I could make double what he was paying by going on my own.
The first week his son called me on the way back from Port Patrick (just south of Stranraer) and asked me to...
I had a Boxer van and found the battery was draining from the lights- I added LED ones and after the battery issues I found out the vehicle managment effectively messed about with grounds to switch the lights off and if you took a feed from the light it was on.
I ended up buying a Schneider cam...
You will probably need more isolators- the changeover switches also need DP switches on each side
What I mean is
1 DP switch for OFF grid > changeover switch
and
1 DP switch for ON grid > changeover switch
I have a second DB at home and I have a Hager SF363 DP changeover switch
The switch I...
I always use Hager, however my confidence in them has been dented with the AFDD woes
In my home I have a Hager 3P+N DB with RCBO's plus an essential services DB for lighting, heating etc with a 63A Hager DP changeover switch
I bought my son (who is also an electrician) a Fluke handheld meter
He got the one below this
https://www.fluke.com/en-gb/product/electrical-testing/basic-testers/t6-pro
I like this Fluke meter as it does AC and DC as well as current
The voltage range is auto selecting as well
I used to use GET acessories, now defunct.
I kept away from MK as they were relying on their name.
I used MK consumer units for a couple of years and left them when they moved the manufacture from UK / Europe to the far east- went from NO faulty MCB's to 2 a month (less than 0.25% to 12.5%)
I...
I used to use MK about 20 years ago but switched to Hager over 15 years ago
The quality is good, I also like that they now do dimmer frames that let you put other dimmer modules inside- that way you can have a Varilight or Bell dimmer inside with the Hager frame- nice touch.
I find the...
