You are correct, the incoming equipment is the owned and is the responsibility of the DNO but as I said the earthing is not their responsibility and has not been for some time, it is now being pushed as the responsibility of the consumer. Unless there is a real and present danger, they will not...
Unless I’m missing something I do t see what the problem is. I’ve come across this situation a few times.
You will of course get a loop impedance reading to neutral as the neutral will be connected to earth at the sub station.
In days of yesteryear the gas could be used as the main earth but...
By the way, there are members saying that we should have been given that facts before we voted.
THERE ARE NO FACTS! THERE ARE NO MORE FACTS NOW THAT THERE WERE BEFORE! THERE ARE NO MORE FACTS ABOUT LEAVE THAN THERE ARE ABOUT REMAIN.
In voting out, we are voting in to an educated unknown...
Could I just add my penny’s worth to the OP after asking a question.
What is your qualification in with regards to trade or job?
Now for my penny’s worth:
It may be true that the work you are intending to carry out does not need Part P registered but the work never the less does still need...
So a tough tot up suggests that (from this thread only) about 80% of electricians voted leave.
And that would make sense to me based on my conversations.
Thanks Guys and Gals and I hope we can now all kiss and make up.
Hi guys,
This may have been done before, and to be honest I can’t be bothered to check. I was just wondering whether what percentage of you voted Brexit and what percentage didn’t?
I read all this stuff about what type of person voted out and what type voted in but the people I meet on in the...
On a lot of contactors there is a switch that sets the contactor to stay off in the event of a power failure or restart automatically.
Not sure how 230v will operate the 400v coil though!
Also the UV’s must turn off if the pump stops. They will burn out otherwise.
Where abouts are you?

The white cover is a decorative cover and has no seal. This is the cover that would usually need to be removed to get to the electrical connections. Therefor no gas safe is required.
Although usually the electrical connections to boilers are an utter pain in the arse and in my opinion are a...
Yes it’s a 2 port valve. Sorry, I should have said that at the start.
My client is refusing to believe it’s a sticky mechanics as this is the third he’s had.
So, been back today and the new valve was stuck in a position that wouldn’t trigger the micro switch. I moved the manual lever and suddenly the motor then moved the mechanism to the right position and the boiler fired.
When the stat was turned down the mechanism didn’t return as far as the old...
I realise that no L on orange would cause the boiler not to fire. My question is why would the valve not turn enough to trigger the micro switch? It stops short. Brand new stat, complete valve, tested all outputs at each switch but the motor stops short.
The original valve had a problem very similar to what you are describing and I had to loosen it off the base a little to get it to work. Honeywell told me that to refit the actuator the manual lever has to be pushed to the ‘manual open’ setting before refitting it. I couldn’t quite see why...
