Electrician refusing to sign off own work because of tripping RCD

Certification and the tripping RCD are two separate issues, cert is a legal obligation, the RCD he should investigate as profesional courtesy but may be a chargeable extra (is it new or old wiring?)

Observing fire detection shortfalls on EICRs

What exactly do you mean by shortfalls? An out of date or missing smoke alarm as part of the electrical system I'm testing would be noted, a shortfall though lack of requisite alarms (if say a rental) isn't really in my scope although depending on your relationship with the landlord you may...

Begs the question if there's one green wire and that's being used as a switch line, where are the other earths and what are they doing?! Like said this needs a professional to look it over.

    Self policing EICR cowboys

Seen loads of it, schedules that don't even marry up with the CU etc etc Then the scheme guy who audits me seems utterly ---- retentive and picks me up on the stupidest things. Seems to be two completely different worlds. Mind, I'm not sure scheme membership is even a reqiurement for these...

UNSATIFACTORY EICR REPORT BASED ON C3

In practice the letting agent will demand an EICR with satisfactory written on it, even with a new cu install cert, in my experience. OP is the spark insisting on improvement work and if so what? Is the property RCD protected? (Shedule of test results will tell us)

    Hager consumer unit blanks

They are for whatever insane French design logic very fiddly to fit with the busbar in place but should sit neatly, one of the main reasons I go out of my way for hagar is they're one of the only manufacturers of consumer units that fit together properly and straight! Or get some mk blanks...

    Service head EICR

If they trained and gave you their blessing then they'd be liable when something goes wrong, and when half your networks is so far past its service life its in many cases quite literally falling apart that's a big ask. Much, much nicer for them and their shareholders to maintain the pretence...

    Eicr who wants them

Found myself working for someone with a few dozen housing association slum lets... Some of them I have to confess I don't even try - if I can get a passable insulation reading to earth its gets a pass with some grumbling in the limitations.

He sleeved all the redblack cables ! If only he'd have paid a little more attention to detail elsewhere... Such as a plastering syllabus... Its a vertically integrated solution ill have you know, which as far as I'm aware negates the fire rating as the door doesn't gravity-shut....

Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

That's the most depressing aspect, it was one thing when you were dealing with discontinued lines, but the CBF of it all is the worst. I was pondering the other day why consumer unit manufacturers have such low opinion of sparks that they make everything with horrid multi-fit screw heads that...

    Eicr who wants them

The problem is more the bogit&leggit brigade. If you know which end of a hammer to hold the majority of the middle classes will believe you're anything you say, most people really are that clueless and feckless today.
