Although not regulation I believe its a fair comment regarding "consideration" for phase balancing. The rest of the post was, in my opinion sound advice for the original poster.
When you say the guy came recommended, in what way? I take good recommendations as quality considerate work done at a fair cost.
Other folk may expect something different "cheap job" maybe?
If he came recommended as being reliable and undertaking good workmanship then he is not going to be...
Replacing/repairing a PCB is a little different than working on the gas/burner &/or emissions part of a boiler. I'd still would have had it tested to make sure it was burning efficiently and cleanly & that the emissions were still being properly vented!
I don't think anyone disagrees with you, electricity can be extremely dangerous. I think in this situation its more about the context.
A work colleague of my partner passed away a few years back due to a poorly fitted flu on a gas fired boiler. She was slowly poisoned by carbon-monoxide over a...
I once had a break in a brand new "un damaged" cable, a leg of the RFC. It turned out to be a faulty piece. Fortunately I had installed it neatly in capping so although now newly plastered I was able to pull a new leg in.
The moral of the story being that care and attention during installation...
Some kitchen manufacture's use 616mm worktops as apposed to 600mm this extra 16mm actual makes quite a difference believe it or not.
Personally though (from vast experience) the adjacent cupboard is my preferred option where possible. With a discreet hole cut that is just large enough to allow...
Nobody claims to be any better than you. They were asking if you have the necessary "experience" to conduct a suitable EICR for this type of installation. By your own admission you stated that you were newly qualified in this area. You then state that the installation could be "potentially...
A good mate of mine packed in sparkying a few years back to go train driving. He earns more, less stressed and has more free time. I guess it all depends on your personal circumstances and also which part of the country you live in. In my neck of the woods a cards in sparky earns around £15 per...
A bit more speculation, the sparky may not have tested the IR @500v looking at the cable I suspect the outside light has a PIR sensor and even though he could have tested L,SL&N - E he may have been worried about damaging it.
Without the full details & circumstances its difficult to make an...
Putting the 2 x 4mm in the socket is straight forward enough, folding them back is less fun though. Being a bit stiffer they tend to put more strain on the terminations so you have to be more careful bending them and checking for tightness.
There should be a law that all dogs with a dangerous biting power must be muzzled whilst in public places. That's my opinion.
I once owned 2 Staffordshire bull terriers. As friendly as they were (lovely natured dogs) I knew full well their potential for harm, so I always muzzled them when taking...
Electricians should have the knowledge and skills to inspect and test, regardless whether they install or not. So its great that you recognise this and are prepared to learn!
I thoroughly teach my apprentices how to inspect & test, interpret results and understand why/what each test is done...
Yeah its an option, but the OP mentions he has 23mm between each appliance suggesting room maybe a bit on the tight side. Without seeing the plans an 18mm décor end panel each side of the centre appliance would be my choice. This would, in my opinion, be aesthetically better and may also help to...
Yes, I presume so, but if it is the typical laminated off the shelf type, in my experience they still have a tendency to bow unless supported periodically @ no more than 600mm - 800mm
Its always tricky to make a decision regarding this lay out when considering all factors. Personally I prefer to site the sockets/connection points in positions which are accessible without removal of the appliance. In your case this might not be a practical option so would probably go with one...
In my youth went out with a lass who looked just like this. She was a catalogue model named Sarah. I remember at the time I thought I'd hit the jackpot, that's until I got to realise she was a proper psyhco. Nice to look at vile to be with!
They soon lose their appeal if they have ugly...
Hmmm... got home last night to find a brand new SMEG fridge in the kitchen.
@£1500  I wonder why she never asked me to go shopping for a fridge:rolleyes:
The only good thing is I can now have a new motor bike :) and if she just dares to complain....:handfist: :p
Yeah we have one of those things also and now I sweat like a pig in bed because of the thermal insulation from it. Obviously my missus loves it cause she's bloody cold when its 30 degrees outside!
Went sofa shopping last week with my other half , spent hours in loads of shops:(. Everyone sofa I sat in that was comfy and liked she hated, everyone she liked which were..well.. hardly any, felt like sitting on a stone bench and were stupendously expensive! She has now ordered the most...
