Hello guys
I will not be carrying out EICRs for friends and family ever again as my judgement has become some what cloudy.
Thoughts on the below breakers in a commercial kitchen covered in grease? i have suggested new fuse board ?
its and existing installation supplying a brick building with just a few sockets and lights.
an 2 core SWA 50mm sub mains protected by a 80a BS88-2 fuse supply the fuse board in the outbuilding
there are no requirements for supp or main bonding within the building supplied in question , SWA only used as a CPC on sub mains and not supporting main bonding.
But yes quite right i think its a factor of 6 or something?
If a cast iron internal drain pipe terminates outside into a clay drainage point is this still classed as extraneous conductive part.
I am being super careful as an NICEIC inspector had me box off a soil pipe on a PME system earlier last month and dont want to come a cropper again.
Regulation 411.3.1.2
Metallic pipes entering the building having an insulating section at their entrance need not be connected to the protective equipotential bonding.
Question is what is meant by an insulation section at the entrance:
** enters in copper but then goes plastic?
**enters...
Replaced the fuse board on existing installation, could not access origin at time of install and DNO had no records.
unfortunate for me on my inspection there was access and confirmed PME .
within a building supplied my a PME system it’s not possible to main bond the extraneous conductive parts effectively back to the origin.
Resolution instead of changing to a TT system remove the extraneous conductive parts.
Water pipe: this comes out the ground so change this to plastic and...
i could never get access to the origin, turns out we could on my assessment and discovered the building sub main was off a PME 50mm SWA twin. thats the issue.
a big mistake for me as assumed i could limitate it on the EICR

the above link is for the manufacturer SWA cable installed on a PME exported into a second building using a 50mm twin SWA where there is main bonding to water pipes in place at 10mm.
the cable is 50mm 6943X 50 which is 74mm...
A portfolio job i used for an NICEIC visit required me to return and carry out some extra works, take pictures and send evidence to the NICEIC.
the client does not care about the certificate being invalid as a result on not carrying out the repairs and they wont allow us back on site.
