    Microwave sensors hall way lights

microwave sensors on lights are great, the only disadvantage is that they sense through doors meaning tenants activate the corridor light going to the toilet in the evening. I managed to partially block the sensor with aluminium kitchen foil.. has anyone had similar issues?

Oven trouble need larger than 13a

quite frustrating as a client purchased a 16a oven. 32a ring supplies 13a fused spurs for the old ovens. I can’t downgrade the MCB to a 20a because the microwave will trip with the oven on. How can I fuse the 20a ovens locally by replacing the 13a fused connection units. I am quite sure...

    EICRs only testing a percentage

I understand this but this is generally for commercial or building owners who know what they need. My post now (edited) refers exclusively to electricians going in once and to never return sorry i should made that clearer

    EICRs only testing a percentage

I can understand accessories you may only sample a percentage but allot of companies only test %20 of the final circuits. Thats like taking your car for an MOT and only looking at half the car... should this practice be outlawed as testing firms are getting away is issuing a worthless report and...

Client is being very naughty and im caught in the middle

I carried out an EICR for a charity music school, the building is a small brick building with a few ring circuits and lighting circuits. I am going to be upgrading a few consumer units. I asked them where their meter was and they said they currently do not have one and do not intend to have...

Converting to a TT system... possibly

The building is a small hut in the middle of a park which has a few ring final circuits for heaters and lighting etc, the Ze is stable, give or take 0.05 over 3 months. I think from what everyone has said i may stick with the DNO 1.25Ze and RCBO everything?

Converting to a TT system... possibly

This would be a hell of lot more economical than making the system a TT and doing away with a stable earth in favour of an unstable earth. hmm yes Essex i think this would be the best way to go, as long as all final circuits will meet the required disconnection time then we have no issues. I...

Converting to a TT system... possibly

Hello Dave I suppose i would then need to ensure all final circuits have 30ma protection as my only concern is the entire building turning off with an earth fault.
