    Should be straightforward, but.....

Changing a faulty Drayton SM1 mechanical programmer with a Siemens RWB 1007 programmer (both single channel) serving a Ferroli DOMIcompact F24D combi boiler. System appears to wired - mains, programmer, thermostat, boiler. The original back plate serving the Drayton had a link between L & 1...

Is this installation what Wago had in mind

TBH I'm not sure what caused the high resistance problem, just remade the connection with a new connector. That said, I now double check R1/R2 readings after using them!

Is this installation what Wago had in mind

Use them ( or their equivalents) all the time now. Only had one problem where the use of a "push in" Wago was causing a high r1 reading on a ring final circuit.

Home Reports - not worth the paper?

While I agree that Home Reports have mostly proved to be worthless pieces of paper based on what they actually tell prospective purchasers, they were never intended to deliver the level of information which, for example, an EICR does. The most commonly commented on electrical "defect" that I...

Tate Premier SX 8 zone fire panel

Thanks Tazz. Just to be clear, I was referring to checking the charging voltage of/from the panel, not the state of the battery ( I actually have the Crome tester). It was the weird voltage readings on the battery charging output that wanted to better understand. I thought the permanently lit...

Tate Premier SX 8 zone fire panel

Ah, there needs to be a load when measuring? Normally check intruder alarm panel battery charging circuits with no load, without problem.

Tate Premier SX 8 zone fire panel

Thanks F. Batteries were original....2005! So, yeah, the charging circuit is probably gubbed. Lee, I understood this panel ( just badged Tate) was obsolete. I don't cover fire systems, just changing the batteries as a favour. The landlord has been advised of the issues and the need for urgent...

    28A in 4mm cable 6.5kw hob

Well Ref B gives you 28A max on 4mm t&e and the appliance is unlikely to draw all its 6500W at the same time, so 4mm should be fine unless a more onerous installation method has been used. Ok, clipped direct gives you even more headroom.

Tate Premier SX 8 zone fire panel

Hi all, quick questions re the above. Firstly when checking the battery charging voltage, the reading switches between 2V & 28V approx every second - I'm guessing this ain't right, but any thoughts? Second, what would cause one of the Zone lights (top row) to be permanently lit? Thirdly, if the...

    eicr timescale any ideas ????

Interesting! Where does it state that appliance testing records form an Appendix of an EICR?

    Starting Second Year

Sounds to me like you are doing fine. First couple of years on an apprenticeship are the most difficult as you find your feet and gain confidence. College - many students find the science & maths a challenge. Stick in and you'll get through it. Don't be frightened to ask for help/explanation of...

As Rob, but additionally, housing associations are big on equality & diversity as well as your interaction with tenants. So being comfortable working in the homes of people of different faiths & none, being willing to learn about & respect different cultures; good communication skills; showing...

    Can anyone name this panel....

Not been serviced in 9 years. Couldn't get access to the control panel on my first visit as it was at the back of a jam-packed integral garage.

Profestional alarm install, mains supply 0.5mm2 flex into back of a socket

Not complicated is it. Contact the installing Co, ask for the Minor Works Cert. If they haven't got one, say you require one from a qualified electrician. If they don't respond positively by providing a cert ( having made the alteration comply if it doesn't already), then it's off to their...
