when the IR test is being done was the CPC still connected (continuously) back to the CU ? You could have leakage from L or N through the building fabric to true earth, this wont be picked up if IR test is done on S/L CPC at switch position if the CPC is disconnected. And could be only evident...
Had similar with a outside motion detector at my local, spayed some switch cleaner in it by surgically forcing the tube trough the edge of the lens. Its been alright ever since 12 months and counting !
Anyone recommend a cheap (no more than £50) voltage logger that records values over days/weeks. A 3 pin plug type would do. Its out of interest really to find how the voltage varies where I live! Ive done a search online and cannot spend ££££££ for fluke offerings, but also dont want some super...
Looking at the troupe system last night, apparently its more efficient to use water to drive generators than compressed air, and that's why hydro dams are used in place of troupes. This is all about scale, it would be great if every household had there own troupe, but not everyone lives next to...
I worked for agencies as a mate/improver for more than 10 years up until fairly recently. During that time I was never, not once, asked if I had have my own insurance ! On CIS I might add
No you don't need to be insured as a mate/improver. You likely working under the supervision of someone else and they should be insured. Please dont fall for it,

"If the actual current carried by the cable (the design current) is less than the rated value, the cable will not become as warm as the calculations used to produce the volt drop...
Ever since it started snowing, all my wife has done is stare through the window. If it gets any worse I'm gonna have to let her in.

The wife said to me last night ''If you turn the bedside lamp off I'll take it up the arse." Maybe I should have waited for the bulb to cool down first.
No there will be a new circuit for the new rooms, and I will remove the existing circuitry for these rooms from the existing JB.
The circuit that was feeding the upstairs lighting was chopped by the builder when he demolished the rooms and customer wants it reconnected as now there is no lights...
Thanks for the info, although that part of the installation I will not touch. Im concerned with running a new supply (which will have a cpc) to the existing lighting jb which serves the existing lights and switches. Is this recommended or not was the reason for the post.
