The ECS card is the best safety card to acquire in your quest to become an electrician. The ECS safety exam covers safe isolation and other electrical aspects and will be more specific to the work we carry out. The CSCS card does not cover electrical aspects and that reflects on the employment...
My post was supposed to quote the OPs post #13 below
Like I said earlier in thread, I will take a look as anyone would in this situation. Let's be honest technically any domestic electrical work or commercial for that matter isn't really that difficult. Working out what others have done in the...
I would have to disagree here as (technically) our trade has to be one of the hardest trades to understand and learn. Designing a specific electrical circuit requires a lot of knowledge to be done properly. Working in a commercial environment on site we have everything designed for us and work...
Ok here is my bit on this post (scrumpy pushed to one side)
This forum has been a very big part of my long road to becoming an electrician. The get an electrician in response is almost always a justifiable reply. We have and always will get the im trying to help the electrician out by wiring my...
Pete 999 i can agree with some of your comments on the qualification and when i applied to the college i was attending i applied for the city and guilds certification in initial verification and testing but was told by my tutor that it has been replaced by the college to the EAL level 3 course...
One of the problems i see here is that you have no electrical qualifications, your profile has no qualifications listed so i will take it you have none or are not studying any. You will almost certainly get no joy if you are not studying the required qualifications to work towards becoming an...
Haggis you seem to have given to much away here as no qualified electrician will attach an swa cable to the back of an existing socket in the shed. You have stated you have rewired your own houses before so the post stinks of you doing a DIY jobby on this and i dont think anyone will advise...
May i suggest that before the "Radial" is extended it is tested to ensure that it will be sufficient to take the new load you intend to place on it.
And BCO are not electricians. The purpose of the DIY section is to try and advise people of basic jobs and this is a bit more than basic.
In reply to your post you cannot get the NVQ level 3 or apply for it without having the level 2 and 3 city and guilds 2365 which replaced the 2330 courses. Im not familiar with the 2330 qualifications but they have been replaced by the city and guilds 2365 certifications.
If you have the...
This sounds like a typical get in get out and on to the next job testing company who are only interested in the amount of jobs you get done to earn them money. Personally i wouldn't worry about being the slowest tester on the firm because at least you can walk away knowing you have been thorough...
Legend in his day unbeatable. I still have a set of his branded tungsten 21 gramme darts mass produced in the 80's and I thought they were crap but looking back I think it was the person throwing them that was crap.
Fitzy dont take this the wrong way but looking at your profile you are not a newly qualified sparky and you may want to think about your profile title. This thread has gone a bit of topic as you wanted advice on pricing a job but you have to respect the fact that qualified sparks on here have...
An old saying is there is no harm in another string to the bow but confined space entry certification is only useful in very specialised industries and may not appeal to anyone in the lets say domestic sector. My advice is if its free then do it and do any courses that you can get or get offered.
Mine was in 1992 a little bit after yours Telectric lol but strangely mine to was making a steel toolbox which was thankfully stolen by some thieving herbert. I just wished at the time that they left my tools contained inside on the workbench and took the box on its own.
It is hard to get a start but they do come along eventually. Try all the electrical wholesalers in the area you are prepared to travel to and ask nicely to place a small advert in them, explain to them you are struggling to get a start and they will probably oblige. Be brief on the ad dont make...
Concentrate on the areas you feel you are struggling with and practise the theory side using online mock tests etc. Google swindon massive and that will help on test papers for the required level you need.
Try not to get to far ahead of yourself if that makes sense as a lot of it wont make any...
