Horstmann Electronic 7 seems to be constantly on!

The electronic 7 requires a 24 hour supply and is completely compatible with your current setup. As Red has pointed out, the stat within the immersion element should stop the element drawing power when it gets up to temp. It's a "six and two three's" situation. You either time it to suit...

Open source thermostat for electric underfloor heating?

Using contactors would mean you could use just about any thermostat you wanted.

Recommendation needed for basic PIRs and exterior floods

Another vote for Steinel PIRs from me. Osram LEDVANCE & Ansell Carina floods both decent, similarly priced options.

Which cable in light switch actually goes in common??

I think Timbo has hit the nail on the head with this one, have experienced this with some manufacturers/older switches.

Career change at 23, electrician advice (Glasgow)?

I was a semi-late starter being twenty when my apprenticeship began. I didn't have a mortgage but was renting & managed to cope between savings and the missus' income. This included the addition of our first child somewhere through second year! I think being slightly older and willing to work...

    SON Floodlight advice please.

If changing lamp from HPS to LED you will need to either replace the ballast for a driver or (if the lamps have driver built in) bypass the old ballast.

    Floor sockets + Building Regs

I think the key words are "general use". Provided some sockets are sited at the right heights for general use, the odd one placed in an otherwise unusual position doesn't matter.

    My guess would be conduit

    Tapping into cigarette lighter circuit

You could use a "fuse jumper", makes it easily reversible when the time comes.

    Tapping into cigarette lighter circuit

Don't think there is a limit other than the rating of the fuse for the cigarette lighter circuit (usually 15A). I've wired additional points in behind the glovebox to suit things like dashcams a few times. I'd only ever suggest a scotchlock to be used to tap into a signal wire (for example to...

Big Clive - Wago Rip Off.

Yes! (Also Chrome though) Quite like the look of these but would need well marked up to save confusion (polarity wise), possibly why Wago hasn't gone ahead with them?

    Overtightening Meter Terminals

I think you'd be more likely to snap the head off the screw than majorly damage the tails

Gluing alarm cables to UPVC Window frames & Door architraves

I'd go for: line of glue on frame, place cable on top, quick spray with activator. Activator should effectively evaporate but should wipe off no problem if not. Would be worth a test in a discrete corner if you're worried.

Gluing alarm cables to UPVC Window frames & Door architraves

Mitre fast would be ideal in this situation. Comes as a 2 part kit, 1 bottle of superglue and one can of aerosol activator which makes the glue go off within a couple of seconds.

Gluing alarm cables to UPVC Window frames & Door architraves

I think the replies you're referring to are justified. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill in my opinion. If you'd glued it on Wednesday when you started this thread you'd probably have forgotten about it by now.

New consumer unit, builder says upgrade supply

I'm sure I read somewhere that the lid had to be hinged from the top, as in self closing, to comply with the regs pertaining to the containment of fire. Come to think of it, that info may have been getting banded about around amendment 3 time. Can't say it'd be worth my while to travel to the...
