Ok new house. New install cert issued. However, no supplementary bonding that I can see and accessible . There is a 10mm earth wire connected above the water stop cock point of entry under the kitchen sink. However, no cross bonding to the hot pipe. According to install cert the cross bonding...

    UK Dummy Bell Box required

The electricians that wired up all the houses have left the Sky coax cable coiled up by the face brickwork which is enough to reach a dish via wall bracket. Possibly a good metre + cable

Thank you for finding so quickly. I was asking to ensure that the box could take the Sky cable within it easily.

    UK Dummy Bell Box required

Hi Guys, I'm after a realistic outside dummy alarm bell box to cover Sky cable. It's a new house that's wired for Sky, but not used. I'm thinking of an empty bell box to house the Sky cable in case required for later use. Thanks

Ring Main with sockets not working

What made the customer call you in the first place? Had they been doing any work of some sort? Any building work or similar within the house? Or did the sockets just pack up working for no particular reason?

CCTV > Router Cat 5/6 solid copper cores

Hi Guys, I have asked this question before in another thread that I was following, but can't find it. I've installed a CCTV system. What I'm after is a 10m x suitable Cat 5 or 6 cable complete with plug ends fitted. I believe it was suggested that copper solid 8 core cables are better. The cable...

Gas & Electric Meter - Same Cupboard?

I see where you are coming from, but I would of thought that ALL plug tops etc should be easily accessible by the end user.

1st fix metal back box fixing, how do you do it?

Just chop out, drill and plug. As mentioned above, if brick or block collapses, skimming plaster used with dirty water (sets a lot faster)

Gas & Electric Meter - Same Cupboard?

Hopefully reading and understanding above comment correctly. All appliances have local over current protection and means of isolation.

    Where to put sockets?

Not too sure about any reg number, but.....if done as you propose, not done to MI instructions. Not good workmanship nor practicable really

    Where to put sockets?

Look at the rear of the appliances, where possible site the socket where you can obtain the greatest clearance. There might be an indentation rear of appliance. Most appliances not really an issue. Washing machines, tumble driers etc have pipework and flexible waste pipes

Gas & Electric Meter - Same Cupboard?

Re MCB as only means of switching off Cooker. No doubt just left on 24/7. Seems common sense to have a local means of local isolation in case of an emergency if cooker should go wrong

    Where to put sockets?

Re appliances side by side: Not electrical. Ensure worktop has sufficient support when spanning two appliances. They tend to sag over a period of time.

    Where to put sockets?

What the OP is concerned about, is the depth of the socket and the 13 amp plug top sited behind the appliance. Whether it's a grid switch or spur point above worktop has no relevance.

Gas & Electric Meter - Same Cupboard?

In later years working for a DNO company, they would advise not in same cupboard. Reason being, if a gas leak, build up of fumes in an enclosed area, an over current device when operating under fault condition could cause a spark therefore possibility igniting the gas If unavoidable, they would...
