Thank you. I apologise for my outrageous behaviour.
Absolutely......Let's continue our discussion.....
I am pleased to hear about your revelation regarding XLPE SWA. Amazing stuff it is. Can you educate me as to the equipment you are now designing to run at 90 Degrees Celsius? I have never got...
Again, not sure what the scope of your works is. Really, the AC side would come under the EICR anyway I suppose. Just do what they are asking for then (Isc, Voc and Irradiance reading I guess). Without panel data you can't compare it with STC for the panel, but if they are not asking for it then...
OP, Sizing cables is down to factors other than ability to teminate!! Seriously, confirm exactly what he is having and how he will use it, then work out a realistic design current. It may save a few quid too.
AC side is simple, just deal the circuit like you are doing an EICR. Regarding the DC side, Check with your company what the scope of this maintenance check is. If they just want readings then do that. Do you have a DC clamp meter and W/M2 meter? The owner of the system would have been provided...
On a Domestic PV system you won't have overcurrent protection devices on the DC side. Even on a 4 kw system with parallel strings, the max current even under fault is less than the cable rating.
Earth continuity can only refer to the AC final circuit to Inverter and also the array if inverter...
Need to be a little bit careful when applying this.
Yeah, this method then moves the job of earth fault protection from the OCPD to the RCD as the fault current is not enough to operate the OCPD quickly enough. The OCPD will still be covering short circuit protection so this then needs to be...

If you have all the conductors in Wago's as in pic then you only now have 1st and last leg on ring final still connected to MCB. As circuit is now so deconstructed it now needs to be reinstated and tested by an electrician as if initial verification, the fault will soon be traced by someone...
1. Does anybody know of an oval spacer to space the bullhead off the wall with a side entry for the conduit? Or of a cheap bulkhead with a side entry on it (can tell the client to swap it)
- Use a 20mm conduit terminal box mounted to the wall and then mount bulkhead to that. Use conduit box...
I assume you mean small company that is now gone. Agreed, totally unfair and what a waste of time for you to now have to do an NVQ3 if have done a full apprenticeship. Why don't you just download a blank apprenticeship deed then and fill it in and make it look a bit old lol. Who's gonna know as...
Not sure if I have read this correctly, but if I have , then no, you cannot replace DB's supplying installations with cat 1 and 2 obs on them and just issue an EIC noting it. Also, what are the observations out of interest? A Cat 1 is an immediate danger such as exposed live parts.....what have...
Easy........25mm SWA will cover all your CCC and VD worries in lieu of calculations and having a design current! Design is for softies anyway.......With cables, it's a case of go big or go home!! Lol
Offer yourself to do more work then. Replacing light fittings all day is going to be boring. You state you are mobile. Are you on a call out rota?? Prove you are good at breakdown work (if you are, or get good at it if you are not), that is far more interesting. I know you have a domestic...
If it only stopped working after the new consumer unit was fitted then........It must be related to the consumer unit. God, I'm getting good at this!!! I'm thinking about taking it up for a living maybe...
It will be absolutely fine. Cheap Chinese motor anyway!! Fully expendable lol
What's your voltage at the origin? Might be on the lower side of the nominal voltage anyway plus a bit of VD underload will bring it down a bit more.
What is the motor application? What size is it? Are you using a VFD?
