already i laugh , it was just thoughts , just asking views , and sorry no i do not crawl about in lofts to determine where a cable goes , but my assumption is the garage socket is spurred off the ring main like most extra sockets get done , of course i would check if i went any further , it is...
been asked to price a socket to a Summer house , throwing it out their for any views which may help me decide my course of action , Ideally i would like to get back to the Consumer unit , but its virtually impossible without major structural upset , and can not go external from it either due to...
I was looking for advice on in a large dwelling and an erratic tripping mcb , asking other sparks who may have had the problem to give advice to avoid full breakdown to test circuits , to identify likelihoods , and i did resolve it , i thought that was what the forum was for , i appreciate this...
There was no sarcasm in my post just truth , maybe you should have worded your original post better , no mention of you being in the trade , in fact you say no your normal business , and then asked for advice , maybe if you had made any experience you had more apparent people would not think ...
Well best place might be a college course , get some basics behind you , by not even being at a competent level you are going against all guidance and hs at work regs , how would you get anyone to sign it off to local authority .
This may not be possible , but does anyone know of any newer type mcb that can change the above , they are getting harder and harder to get hold of and i was wondering if any new breakers can swap them to look better and give easier availability as time gos by . thank you
Surely if you have no experience , then you could not meet a competent value required , i would guess you would fail regs however long it took you and it could well be dangerous result. Is it worth that when you could get it done for around 4k-4.5k with certification , if its still worth the...
Sadly we have in the family a divorce and i noticed the solicitor is £210 plus vat an hour , which got me thinking my dentist is around £100 an hour a car mechanic £50 per hour , yet here we are with our lives and peoples lives in our hands , and around here if you charge £25 an hour your...
you get a socket with a small lead , you disconnected main earth and connect it to the socket earth , you then connect the phase and neutral to the incoming main tails and plug the tester into the socket...its exactly the same but without leads....any electrician could work that out surely
Anyone had any knowledge of this tester...i had mine about two years and found it great , then one day i noticed ze came out 0.8 ohms everytime.
All other tests work fine including zs..but anytime i read ze it reported 0.8..rang the company and basically they did not know why but of course...
Anyone know of any rcbo that can be a straight swap for the old style crab tree screw on mcbs sb6000 type 1
The old boards do not give much room so they need to be a single pole swap , if not i will have to change the unit for new but very limited space .
anyone know of any brand that fits the...
its not the overheads...They have used 4 single pvc pvc main tails like you get in a normal house and tapped onto the lines at height then surface clipped them down the post to the store...about 4 ft off the floor. i can touch them easy so if the pvc broke down bingo i get one off the overheads
yes that is kind of what i thought i would do...but the overheads would be local supplier and i have never seen it done like that..surely it could be dangerous and they should have protected it in some way ? would you tell them your concerns . Turning the head on that one could kill someone...
I am doing some EICR work on a mobile unit / caravan park...the unit problems are simple and normal , some pass some need new con units..the usual...my problem is the park owner is making all units have a test done to comply but it is outside where i worry more and of course i am not being paid...
With 35 years i do know that...was a simple chuck it out there to see what as "electricians" your views were...not guessing as such just time served hunches...of course i will be going down all the routes but i thought i would ask to see if anyone came up with a thought i had not considered. i...
no tests at the moment as i am just throwing it out to see views...the clamping the load i understand but its does it with very little load but an increased load...i mean 5 amp mcb blowing with say 500ws on but held at 400ws...also turn the light off in lounge and put dining room on does the...
yeah going for the mcb first .. if not i will be taking lamps out and testing as described or some disconnections...certainly its not overload....is there anything else on the thermal overload i am missing? there is extensive dimmers...some of the non fire rated downlights ..but not many...if a...
So whats is your ideas...5 amp mcb with main switch 30ma rcd....nice house , dry etc ...put any combination of lights on and after around 4-5 minutes mcb blows.....the lambs are varied but i can not see any overload and it will do it with only a handful on...if you leave say 1 or 2 lights on it...
