    EICR on commercial unit

Hi all Doing an EICR on a commercial unit. Last time done was 2002. No rcd protection whatsoever and plastic board. All circuitry testing out fine, complete ring, c.p.c's present at all lighting points and other appliances. One thing am unsure on is how to code lack of rcd protection on...

What the hell is this main fuse?

My understanding of regs is that there is no actual regulation that specifies need for local isolation? The mcb is adequate to provide the isolation. Although that said shower should be installed to manufacturers instruction but as cannot gain access to this at the most I should note this on...

What the hell is this main fuse?

No, no signs of any pc. Think it was just initially hardwired without an isolator

What the hell is this main fuse?

The rest of it was ok in all honesty. Earthing good, bonding, complete rings, rcd protected. One thing that surprised me was no isolator for shower hardwired in. What's your take on that?

What the hell is this main fuse?

Unfortunately no pic of busbar PC. If upgraded tails to double insulated and swapped terminations over at main switch do you think this would bring installation upto satisfactory?

What the hell is this main fuse?

So the presence of the isolator totally does away with need for the fuse? Thing is this is rated at 100 amps and pretty sure was 16mm main live and 10mm earth

What the hell is this main fuse?

Hi All On a job this morning doing an EICR. As you will see from photos main live conductor showing signs of burning out at termination. Checked tightness of termination and main switch all seemed fine. I thought I would check main fuse rating to see rating of this. Supply is tncs with 16mm...

    Understanding/fault finding jacuzzi pumps

Cheers Tel. Am back there for few other jobs will try to pick up capacitor to swap out with. The push button old and not working but suppose just blowing down the tube should hopefully be able to test if switch is triggering ?

    Understanding/fault finding jacuzzi pumps

Hi Pc. No, no indicator lights to show it is or isn't working. Apart from proving supply good into pump not really sure what next port of call is to check. Think could potentially disconnect the capacitor but can this be tested to check working ok? Am I right in presuming it's the actual air...

    Understanding/fault finding jacuzzi pumps

Hi All Been on a job today and while there was asked to look at jacuzzi which hasn't been working for a good while. Wondering if anyone got much experience of these mine is completely zilch. I proved 230v coming in to motor pump but beyond there I haven't got a clue on the mechanisms to make...

Splitting aerial cable to supply another room

Evening all Customer asked me if she can have an additional aerial point for her bedroom. Thing is her property is ground floor of two story house so no real possibility of access to loft to run new cable via amplifier. She currently has tv point in living room have contemplated splitting this...

Why 2 hob ratings per ring

Thanks PC for great explanation. Good to have my diversity calc confirmed also. Have already ordered 40amp for this so will go with this.

Why 2 hob ratings per ring

Thanks Telectrix. So your comfortable using the diversity calcs out of onsite guide? Still pretty new in with doing my own works. Have another job coming up and hob and oven would be combined 11KW. Would probably be easier to put them both on a 6mm but other option is the oven tapped of ring...

Why 2 hob ratings per ring

Thanks Snowhead. Out of curiosity if you had a 3.2kw oven and 6.4kw hob would you have any issue with putting both on a 6mm? Have checked diversity equation in onsite guide and this seems to suggest would be ok but I am surprised at how much allowance this gives as all hobs and oven could...
