    1st fix and pack it with screwed up paper so the plastered doesn't fill it ( like mine does). I've used the studboxes, useful in a couple of situations but generally I'm not keen on them.

    You might get lucky, I was asked to take out 9 spots and put one pendent in the middle of the room. It was a converted loft and the crawl space access had been blocked by built in wardrobes.     Recently had the same type of scenario. Both EDF and Western Power were happy for us to connect to the CU around 6m away, no problem at all!! Double checked with different people just to make sure.

    I did a bit of research and found a couple of methods for working out the number of downlights required. Ive got 177 square foot so I'm going with 9. The two outside rows will be on one switch and the centre row on another.

    Yes, thinking about it, it does sound crazy, but then he did actually get fired half way through my course due to his, er, eccentricity. I'll make sure I change my notes on that!!

    My tutor said that you should run SWA from a Henley block to the new CU which will then have it's own main switch etc. Is that just overkill?

    I didn't really think about separating the lights but that's a good thought. I knew I could link in at the switch but I wasn't sure if I could run 10 lights off in a different direction to the rest of the circuit.

    Another possibly thick question, section (vi) all extraneous conductive parts are effectively connected to the protective equipotential bonding... Does this mean that the water pipes (e.g) are connected to the main incoming water pipe which is itself connected to the MET?

I am looking at 701.415.2 and under it I have written (curtesy of my tutor) "very hard to meet all conditions so better to put it in anyway, this will also cover future use/alterations" and "can only be omitted if maxresistance of extraneous conductive parts to the MET IS 1.66 ohms

    Thanks Hightower. This is for my own bathroom, I am rewiring my house. My college tutor said that it's unlikely that all criteria to avoid supplementary bonding would be met so better to put it in.

Can I connect my 4mm supplementary bonding cable to the cpc in my shaver socket which then links directly back to the light (and via the cpc back to the CU)?
