I've had enough situations where problems occur to not want be going there again and normaly isolate the screen at the motor at installation as it's easier to connect it later than to isolate it later. However I wiil always look at MIs first to get a feel for their expectations.
Normally this...
The manual clearly showed the screen isolated at the motor end, just as I have seen with other VSDs instructions.
I suspect the original motor was running star delta, requiring 6+earth, the removed VSD's were Square D.
I truly didn't note the make of the new drives, the grey plastic covers were...
I think another reply is warranted here.
I've just got home from a callout to a plant room where a pair of fan motors and their control gear have been changed. Including VSD's, Estop, contactors, air louvres etc.
Job started 1800 on Friday with the expectation it would take 12 hours for a crew...
Certainly makes a pleasant change
Most of my work for 10-15 years was control panel build/repair and invariably I'd only be able to do one job a day.
One complaining of MCB's tripping was unusually within 2 miles of home, left home 0750 quicky established some additional kit had been added...
That prettymuch describes the correct format for H&S, my criticism of 'site rules' is they tend to be too rigid added to the 'site H&S guy' being a strict enforcer of the rules without allowing for the adhoc/on the hoof RA/common sense.
One I had said when using a scaff tower we had to go...
As much as I criticise H&S there is usually a reason that most things have been included in such training.
Have you asked them what their training is or why?
On the third day of... Oh no that would have been from day one...
I happened to be visiting a little rock garden and discovered who has systematically stealing little pieces of gravel:
His case comes up next week but as he's a miner (copper, tin, lead?) I can't reveal his face.
Day two in the diary room...
Is this a genuine C1 on EICR
I'm supposed to be retired but having been subbing for a number of companies since being self employed (2005) I still get the local to me just jobs.
A recent call was to go to look at a CU C1 - Cover missing. Exposed live parts. I...
If the 2 other reds on that MCB are a ring final, then a 2.5mm² is acceptable for a correctly designed spur. Not including the earth is not acceplable even for that run only a foot long.
Ican't see anythin at the FCU but is there any chance an earth has been picked from another point?
It may...
Yes the markings are done within the ice, the only time I've seen it done was with powder rather than an actual paint but I have no idea if that is anything like a standard.
To thaw and drain then restart is a lot of work, not the sort of thing to do on a whim so I imagine it would not be done...
When I started reading this I assumed you saw the ice hockey on TV a few days ago. Pro rinks are a slab of concrete with embedded gooling pipes, from start up they freeze the slab then spray water which instantly freezes and it built up to about 4". I can forsee no mechanical issues with...
Having worked on a VSD today the instructions clearly stated the screen is not to be terminated at the motor but an earth conductor must be provided... What the difference is I have not a scooby doo.
There are 2 earth points between the motor connexions and the VSD cable clamp, and listed for...
