EICR - PLASTIC CONSUMER UNIT CODE C2 or C3

I don't agree with that statement, what about explosive environments electrical components that are perfectly safe to use normally would not be suitable in the explosive environment and could be very dangerous so location does effect how dangerous some thing is.

EICR - PLASTIC CONSUMER UNIT CODE C2 or C3

Thats why I said "probably" as you say if all was class 2/plastic fittings then in the event of a fault it wouldn't be come dangerous so would not be a code 2 but would certainly be a code 3 still as improvement would be beneficial and as the regs say they needs to be a cpc at each point but at...

EICR - PLASTIC CONSUMER UNIT CODE C2 or C3

Well this has been a very fun thread to read but here is my 2 cents on this. I would personally not code a plastic consumer unit just for been plastic but i would code it a c3 of it was under wooden stairs with no fire protection or was in the only escape route. A c3 does not say that its is...

I really wouldn't worry about it all all reading are perfectly acceptable just record the results and move on to next job, or go for a pint.

good practice or should it be compulsory

Yeah C3 if under the stairs but if they are new builds i would say it is highly unlikely that the boards will be under the stairs, if its a bit prodject with many houses then they will probily be in the kitchen or in a cupboard in hall way. So next year when tested they wont be coded at all. So...
