    Potential overload of ring mains

    Got to be the most Expensive way to heat a house......Can central heating not be installed? (Gas or oil) If not maybe install economy 7 heating?

    I'm not talking about the times you can legally do it I'm talking about the day to day stuff in the real world where you do it to change a ccu. It happens 100s of times a day. I doubt there will be an increase in the zero amount of prosecutions there are now with the increased deregulation.

    Been personally pulling main fuses and cutting seals for over 30 years. Now my company pulls and cut 100s per year. Never had so much as hint of a problem from the DNO.......I think the subbing out of meter reading probably makes it even less likely of a prosecution or a fine!

    You did the right thing, with the right intentions of saving life and property. The network guy was just doing what all network guys seem to do, overstating there own importance.     Identify this wire from 1960 semi-detached house

    I agree with all the above except i think the Buckle clips point towards it being either a Rubber twin cable or an old PVC flat twin. As said if the rest of the electrics are like this you might need a rewire. Get your local sbaarks to have a look.;)

    If your unsure just agree a day-rate with your customer. Tell him you can't be sure how long some of the jobs will take so its best for both parties if you charge just for your time. Your neck of the wood about £180 a day. If you have to get any gear put 20% on top to cover your time getting it.
