    I never bother about being undercut on pricing. I quote what I thing the job is worth and if someone can do it cheaper good luck to them. I get plenty of work at the price I charge so dont miss enything.

    When I started every time I did a job I spent 5 mins after leafleting the neighbours either side. Got quite a few jobs that way. Also when giving out cards always give extras for them to pass on to neighbours, family, friends etc.

    JB > sw > light ok so far? feed for alarms joined to cable between jb and sw. so n of alarms between sw and light.

    You could join the nic they let anyone in:). when i started out on my own the local councils were insisting on select or nic membership so i had a meeting with the building control officer and showed him my qualifications and he was happy if i attached a copy of my gold card to the forms.

    I had a similar problem a while back. The light was glowing whilst off. The alarms were wired into the live feed to the switch, so the switch return to the light was connected to the smokes neutral. when you removed one of the alarms the glow stopped.

    That's what I said you have already id the circuits whilst doing the inspect and test. I've seen myself spending 90 min tracing one circuit on some commercial jobs.

    I mark the board up if not labeled when I do an eicr. it only takes a minute and you have id the circuits whilst testing them.

    I call myself an electrical contractor. I thought it looked more professional on the van and looks like a bigger firm rather than a 1 man business. Others might have a different opinion.

    It was damaged cables in a notch under the floor. they only crushed together enough to trip if you stood on that particular spot.

    once had one where if you stood on a particular spot in the hall the rcd would trip. it was at the side where you Wouldnt normally walk.

    I used to have the under floor storage for steps on a previous van. The problem I found was that I do a lot of on street parking, and found it difficult to load/unload if someone parked behind you.

    well there is elevenses and snacks between if you get hungry. my work day is usually breakfast about 6:30ish then lunch is usually a packet of crisps or a chocky bar whilst driving between jobs, then dinner about 7pm
