hard to answer without the right units - what does this mean?
"I have worked out that my usage is approx 5000w/day"
That figure needs to be in kWh a day, and the peak consumption level is also useful. Are you saying your consumption is 5kWh a day?
600Ah x 48V = 28.8kWh which at 50% daily...
tell them to assess you under the experienced worker route, and use the evidence of the number of MCS certs issued each year as your evidence of the necessary level of experience along with the original training.
I've just noticed that there seem to be 2 different sets of specs for this inverter.
One spec has the MPPT range as 120V-350V, the other has it at 50-400V.
That may have been a typo, but it also ended up in the manual.
odd.
I see what you're saying kaju and that's going to be having an...
what mcs requirement is this?
They would seem to be ignoring the 5 years relevant experience rule that automatically qualifies someone without any need for courses IIRC.
it looks like you have shading of some nature (maybe bird droppings) on the smaller array, sufficient to knock out 2-3 strings of cells in bright sunlight but not in cloudy weather.
Or one of the panels on the smaller array has particularly bad cells in it / is actually a much lower rated...
but this really is something the installation company should be checking under warranty, 25% underperformance relative to another almost identical system on the same site with no shading should merit a warranty visit... as long as you're sure that the garage system isn't subject to shading.
inverters tend to measure the DC ampage and multiply that by voltage and some allowance for average inverter efficiency to produce their KWh figure.
The level of inaccuracy is therefore dictated by the difference between the actual inverter efficiency and the assumed efficiency in the...
as sibert indicates the 4 panels are way undersized for the 3kW inverter, and you're losing a significant portion of that generation as a result.
I'd put that in as a formal complaint to the company and ask them to rectify it under warranty, which is going to mean that they need to put in a...
if it keeps dropping then it indicates a likely problem, good to keep a note of the weather conditions when it's worst - ie if it's when it's wet / wet and cold / dry and sunny etc as that helps to narrow down the likely issue.
for a one man band in particular you want to view the repair side of the business as a major element of it. We're doing multiple repairs per week at minimum £150+ vat call out charge for 2 hours work. People will pay extra for that solar expertise, and there are hundreds of thousands of systems...
sounds like the spark wired it wrong, blew the display, then wired it back up correctly and scarpered.
The wiring of the meter isn't a problem for any spark, sorting it out with the fit supplier is probably best done by a pv company used to such things. Won't your original company even do it...
sounds like it's been wired wrong then, and may well function when wired correctly, or not if he's blown the meter first, then just wired it up and not said anything.
when was that fitted and has it ever worked?
The wiring looks wrong, it's certainly wrong for all the E110's we've ever fitted, but then it also looks different and has a combined neutral block on the right, so maybe they've introduced a new model.
Usually it would have live from the inverter...
ps it does sound like a proper bodge job, panels should be level, that's just basic level professionalism, and panels that aren't level from one row to another or one panel to another absolutely can cause issues with microshading that some inverters struggle to cope with. There are even threads...
6% below the estimate is well within the range of performance that could be expected from an MCS estimate, the estimates are based on regional data, and within each region there can be +/-10% variation from the average depending if you're in a more hilly rain affected part of the region or the...
it's a simple task to swap out the meter, then notify the fit supplier of the change of metering details.
Unfortunately if the screen is bust then you're a bit scoobied on the generation since the last reading, unless the fit supplier is saying they'll take the inverter reading instead.
