wow - as of their last annual report they had net £10k assets, and only had a single company director.
Still showing on companies house as active though, and got a decent credit score so if they are going under then it's not gone official yet.
when you say it's underperforming, it'd be useful to know by what percentage it's underperforming as it's hard to know how much of an issue it is / diagnose without that info.
must say that I don't think much of what sgt_woulds is talking about is likely to have a significant impact on...
no, you'll not be able to do it without batteries, the inverters won't cope with the fluctuations in power requirements and generation properly IMO.
Even a 120Ah leisure battery would provide buffering to level out this variability and allow for higher peaks eg when fridge / air con compressors...
with 20A fuses?
I'm really starting to hate all these add on devices. Have to placate v ****ed off customer due to the 16A fuse blowing twice, and us trying to work out why despite not faults on the system.... thanks for arranging for the 20A fuses to be sent out anyway Andy, I just need to...
SMA or ABB have shading functions that work very well in shading, I've seen the solax inverters struggle / get stuck on a false voltage peak just from early morning shading as the sun comes around onto the panels.
I think Marlec are probably a reasonable bet for staying in business with the solar i boost, and we've only had one failed unit to date out of dozens installed.
are you sure it wasn't the over temperature cut out on the immersion?
We've had that go multiple times I think on the same immersion, they're apparently only specced for emergency back up use, not for regular usage.
erm, is that 4mm2 cable used as the link from the fused combiners?
fuse combiners that look to be combining 5 circuits, each running at say 8 amps = 40amps running through a single 4mm2 cable continuously for hours on end.
Assuming that this is a system with standard mono / poly panels and not...
yes, I'm sure that's it.
actually we've just got busy again, although it's much easier to be busy when we've got a lot less staff.
Now looking like we need more staff again..... ... grrr sodding solarcoaster.
DNO won't like you combining the neutral and earthing arrangements on 3 meters, though I suppose if they're all bonded to the same earthing point / incomer then it's a bit of a moot point.
I'm about to get on the case with MCS with the performance estimation stuff again to see if we can get this resolved to allow for the more accurate methods to be used instead, and the MCS method to be a minimum standard for those who can't be arsed with anything else.
fwiw we haven't adopted...
sounds like you were shading the panels so that the bypass diodes were operating on panels 3 and 4, not sure about the 2nd panel but are you sure you actually had a connection on the multimeter prongs?
Alternatively you have some very duff panels.
Re: Quality of solar panels: quantifying the difference between "cheap" and "good" on
I just did a comparison for a tender we just narrowly lost, and realised that not all salt mist certification is the same.
Futura Sun panels claim to have salt mist certification, but on investigating their...
I think we have done on commercial roof with low wind loading, wouldn't be so keen in a higher wind loading area.
I'd just replace it but note concerns about the wrong clips having been used and state that you can't be held liable for it (or use new clips for your bit)
actually I think they're the 33mm panels but used with the clips from the 31mm panels. The corners are black plastic on the new panels, vs aluminium on the 31mm panels. The new clips are rectangular.
I'd take some spare tiles with you as odds on there will be broken tiles under those panels if...
don't think that applied with schott, which were framed panels.
Thin film panels have much worse capacitance which makes them more prone to IR cut out in cold / damp weather (including the dew at dawn when the inverter does that IR test at start up).
an installer with a grid guard code can...
that's the solarworld mounting system.
If you're looking for a replacement we have some of those panels in stock assuming they're the 250Wp models. The new model have 33mm frames, so you may struggle to get replacements from main suppliers.
have you got G83 type test approval for that? There's no mention of it on your website.
Also can you explain what the point is in doing that rather than simply feeding the inverter in on the grid side of the VO unit? I suppose you save the transformer losses for self consumption, but then the...
