    Time for Snakes and Ladders

I have a set of 10ft telescopic folding ladders...I am not sure I would want to use them every day, but for occasional use they have been fine...The big positive with them and the reason I bought them, is they store away very compactly.... In the past I have also used a set of folding...

From letters to the editor ..

Just a bit of trivia, but heroin and opium used to be legal in this country and was sold over the counter at Chemists. In WW1, it was apparently common for wives/gf's to send heroin as a "tonic" to their loved ones on the front line... These drugs remained unregulated until around 1930 when...

Anyone Recommend A Good Brand Of Saber Saw Blade?

Just wondering if anybody has any recommendation for metal blades for a Bosch cordless 12V saw? I know Bosch drill bits are very good so was wondering whether to go with their blades or is there anything better...They will be primarily be used for cutting copper water pipe and maybe 1" steel...

    SWA For meter tails?

Re the Hob (and the Oven if electric) won't necessarily draw their full current loads even when on max due to them being thermostatically controlled. Same goes for the immersion heater....

The rise of the Police State.

I think it being paper based also meant that it was also exempt from much of the Data Protection laws of the time.

    Tool belts .....anyone a fan??

These days I use a Stanley nail pouch and/or the EL1503 depending what I am doing. For the folks who find a tool belt tends to fall down, you can either add a harness, or a simple 1" wide web strap over one shoulder like the old military Sam Browne belts.

    Tool belts .....anyone a fan??

Very common with electricians in the States and from what I've read, with some Bosses they are actually compulsoryfor the electricians working for them as they are perceived to increase productivity... I have used them in the past carrying clips and hammer when running cable externally and...

Where to get special tool to undo light fitting screw?

Why is that a bodge? In certain engineering trades, being able to make turnscrews and other similar tools was part of the training. I can understand you not wanting to spend "a lot" of time making the correct fitting driver, but I suspect you have spent longer asking about it on here than it...

Did the RAC condemn a serviceable car battery?

I am with Green Flag and had them out one evening to do a "home start" due to a flat battery. I confess that I already suspected my battery was on the way out, but the cold weather plus an interior light left accidently on, killed it. They came out and simply jump started it..After a few...

Recommendations please - rechargeable work light

With the cheaper Chinese ebay batteries, many are "recycled" from cells taken from old laptops and when they are re assembled, they do not contain any over charging protection. Add to that the often crude chargers you get in these cheap deals, and there is a danger of the batteries igniting or...

    RCD Protection Question......

To add to that, I'll mention the bit about my grandson again...In the event of an accident, I'd much rather an RCD trip at 10mA than nearer 30mA.. I know no system is perfect, but for the small cost of the RCD outlet, I don't think I have anything to loose. Just had a quick look in the garage...
