I never see CJR doing anything dangerous. I actually asked on here once for people to point me to his 'dangerous' or 'crap' work and nobody could (aside from that SWA he did..)
From what i've seen he does good work.
Delroy on the other hand, i think he's fairly poor. Anyone who glues trunking...
Any pattern in how much of the cooker you have turned on when it trips? Woulda thought 32a wouldn't be sufficient with all of it going at once but i've not whipped out the calculator so someone else will correct me if wrong.
Just ask for more responsibility. Tell them you're happy to crack on with some snagging or anything like that in addition to labouring. You will probs need some tools.
In terms of the electrical side, unfortunately the options are limited to:
Get someone to take you on as a mate. Quite hard...
My advice would be learn how to do stuff in the trades. They need to know you're not going to be useless on site - you need to be able to measure stuff, cut accurately, figure out the basics like how to make things level, how to use tools, which tools to use for which jobs etc.
Really i don't...
It will be fine unless you're going to have tonnes of stuff plugged in and working all at the same time.
We're probably one of about 3 countries that uses rings. Everyone else uses radials and nobody struggles with tripping. Should be able to handle 12+ sockets comfortably.
It all depends on...
Nah if you do your pricing properly the £50 an hour is after expenses. Plus all the expenses are pre tax not post tax which makes a huge difference. This isn't speculation, i know people pulling this. The ones that aren't are still pulling much more than £19 an hour pre tax. Domestic pays more...
There is more money in domestic though. Although i know there are certain contracts out there that pay very well even cards in and come with perks like fuel allowance, digs paid for etc, the maths don't lie - i'm going to be extremely lucky to find a cards in job paying all expenses and giving...
Exactly. If you're not the one with the contract the pay isn't better.
Well yeah but how many lads in commercial and industrial are going on as the main contractor? Hardly any, there's usually one main subby and then CIS lads are being paid £18-25 an hour.
The 'self employed contractors' on...
I'm working commercial but got sent on a domestic job the other day. Just had to put a single cooker feed in and it was a right ballache. The cable needed to go into ceiling space under glued laminate floor and where the previous guy had chased out and drill a hole ready for the cable he'd gone...
There's more money in housebashing then in industrial surely? Unless it's your contract you're just getting an hourly on an industrial site no? The seasoned lads at work are always complaining about how crap cards in wages are nowadays.
One reckons he was on £350 a day in 1998 and now he's on...
Small claims court, charging for everything plus interest, plus lost time to sue, plus advice taken to sue, plus damages to reputation, plus mental and emotional stress.
You have to take these people on otherwise they will just keep trying to drag our industry down to the pits.
Once a court...
The best screwdrivers (for me) i've ever used are Facom - big handles which i like. Their tools are phenomenal and they do a lot of stuff for cars like spanners and socket sets. Pricey though.
Those Magnusson sets look decent if you're on a budget but i can't vouch for them as never used them...
